Remind me who the health secretary is? (this week anyway)
Therese Koffey - she’s also deputy PM.

She’s a smoker who has proudly voted against measures like banning smoking in cards with kids in. A real charmer.

are we watching (what’s left of) the government tearing itself apart and collapsing in real time?

it’s absolutely ludicrous and almost unbelievable
    I think we are.

Some of the tweets coming out from Westminster are quite ludicrous. Anger, fighting and people telling Rees Mogg to **** off. Not just people on the street as normal, conservative colleagues.

Jambo **** Ian Murray’s latest tweet is quite shocking:

I’ve never seen scenes like it at the entrance to a voting lobby. Tories on open warfare. Jostling and Rees Mogg shouting at his colleagues. Whips screaming at Tories.
They are done and should call a general election.
Two Tory whips dragging people in. Shocking

Story about Truss's lying about family members dieing so should could avoid interviews.

This is the calibre of person that has found her way to the top of the Tory Party. Like Boris, totally juvenile.

I am well past the stage of finding anything about this remotely funny. Brexit aside, they have caused more damage to this country in a couple of weeks than any other government has managed in a full term.
Anyone with an ounce of common sense or decency saw it coming.

She's ****ing thick as pig ****. I've said time and again on here, I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone looks at Boris ****ing johnston never mind her... and thinks they are fit to hold the office of prime minister.

It goes deeper than that however. Public service, peoples prospects, basic requirements and needs... the country is ****ed and its beyond repair. A fully progressive government with throwing money at everything and genuinely trying to improve life for the many would take decades to right the mess... even then as a public service worker...I'm not convinced it's fixable.

The damage to standards of decency and the rule of law is beyond repair.

Chinese money in UK institutions completely dwarfs Russian money, Saudi too actually but not nearly as much as China. Its a ticking time bomb the power over uk institutions China has

Caught a little bit Peston. Very grim faces at the farce, the harm being caused, the reputation and the future - of the Conservative Party.

    Slogans about "growth" and "challenges".

A bunch of criminals who don't care a jot about anything other than themselves.

I started watching the news at about 7pm last night. Ended up with a couple of cans and some nachos and binge watched for next 3 hours. Great entertainment but seriously, in Parliament? This is meant to be the mother of parliaments. Absolutely shambolic

Seems like they realised they couldn't remove the whip from so many so decided to remove confidence vote. Whips go nuts as they have been working on it all day, say they have resigned. To keep whips and save government, they post vote say it actually was a confidence vote.

Do they have the power left to remove whip from all these mps. I doubt it, slap on the wrist and beg people to move on

No votes were recorded for several senior Tories including Boris Johnson, Nadine Dorries, David Davis, Greg Clark, Sir Iain Duncan Smith, Kwasi Kwarteng, Theresa May, Wendy Morton, Alok Sharma, Priti Patel and Ben Wallace

A more awful punishment at this stage would be to give them Ministerial roles

He's on holiday, yet again. Chilling in the Caribbean whilst the bin fire that is the UK (that he started) is raging on. He managed to sort out his holiday spending money by stopping off in Colorado to get £150k for half an hours "work" by giving a speech to an insurance firm.

Just catching up with all this and whilst watching the news I’m not sure I heard right - the current government want to bring in legislation to prevent striking by giving companies the power to order staff to work?? I’m nit sure how that’s going to work if there is a vote to strike?

Is Murray talking about Hugo Smythe-Jostling, 18th Earl of Wimborne? I don’t suppose it matters, what counts is if he’s funded by the fossil fuels, tobacco, pharma or betting lobbies or a combination of all 3.

It’s a total nonsense anyway. What are firms going to do when there aren’t enough bodies to fill the jobs that strikers would presumably lose if this legislation went through?
