    Ed Fringe 2022

Proper Fringe returns next week so let’s have your recommendations and reviews. I went to an early recording for BBC Scotland tonight at The Caves. Edinburgh Unlocked, best of Scottish comedy. Hosted by Mark Nelson. 12 Scottish based comedians. As always with these things, some good, some crap but great to back at a comedy show.

Currently got tickets for Maisie Adam, Laughing Horse Pick Of the Fringe, Just The Tonic Midnight Show, Mark Nelson and Harriet Kemsley.

I like the shows with multiple people on. Chance to see some people you might not otherwise see and there are always a few gems in among. Done the Midnight Show a few times and it's always a good atmosphere. Couple of hours and the audience is usually in that kind of merry drunk phase so it ticks along quite nicely.

I saw a guy called Thomas Green last year at Three Sisters. Free show. He was very very funny.

    He’s there again this year

Have a word have had some brilliant guests on their podcast over the last couple of years and they’ve compiled a list of anyone that’s been one if they’re performing at the fringe.

    I’ve got tickets for

    Vittorio Angelone
    Daniel Sloss
    Paul Mccaffrey

But if I was able to do another day I’d love to go and see

    Sarah Keyworth
    Kai Humphrey’s
    Tom Stade
    eshaan Akbar
    Fin Taylor
    Alfie Brown
    Seann Walsh

I saw Tom Stade at his last couple of shows in the fringe, so good also stands at the exit after words has banter with you as you leave seems a proper good guy as well as hillarious

No tickets but will prioritise seeing Foil, Arms and Hog when I get a chance. I've seen them every year since c.2010 (sans pandemic) and it's always been a great show. They've grown in that time from a smallish venue on the cowgate to large crowds in McEwan Hall.

Otherwise I tend to just go to whatever is on 10/15 mins after I look at the schedule when out.

Be great to see it all up and running at full throttle again.
    Mon the Hibs.

Seen Foil, Arms and Hog a few years back and was a great show. Will be seeing them again this summer at some point.

I saw Alfie Brown in a compilation show last year. Was dreadful. He took the huff and started hurling abuse at the audience for their poor taste.

Bought an initial batch of a dozen or so tickets for the Fringe and Festival. My usual mix of tried and trusted, with some punts. Comedy, music, theatre, dance. Will add more as the reviews and recommendations come in.

This year's added complication is the Film Festival. Would prefer it to have been in June, as it was for a while. It just adds to the time and expense.

    Any highlights so far?

For me, Vittorio Angelone and Rachel Jackson are well worth seeing.

    And Mr Thing.

    Vittorio was excellent.

Went to see Daniel Sloss’s work in progress which was good, and Paul Mccaffrey was good too but my favourite so far was Mark Watson. Absolutely brilliant hour.

Got a few more on the 27th

Can’t remember who it was or on what thread, but any recommendations for taking a 3 1/2 year to see?

I'm heading to the pleasance tomorrow with my 3 Yr old grandson. Seems to be a lot of shows and crafts on there for them. Last week we wandered down the Royal Mile and sat at the mound watching the street acts.

We went to see the Bubble Show at Assembly George Square and it was brilliant. My boys are 7 and 12 but there were plenty of younger kids too. My wife and I enjoyed it too which is a bonus!

Took my 4 year old to see Schools Out Comedy Club at Surgeons Hall, Captain Zak and the Space Pirates at The Pleasance and ComedySportz at the Three Sisters.

Would highly recommend the 1st two. The latter not so much.

Thanks all. We’re booked for Peppa Pig and maybe do some people watching. If she enjoys herself will try Captain Zak as well as seems similar to a Pirate show she likes on cbeebies.

Mark Watson is oddly living with Lee Johnson during the Fringe. I’ve seen him a couple of times years ago and was very good.

I'd read about fringe performers camping to save on costs. Mark Watson landed on his feet having a mate take the Hibs job. Free digs an no midges in sight!

Watson's a big Bristol City fan.

Took the bairn to see Grumpy Pants at the Three Sisters today as a last pre school treat.

Would really recommend to anyone with kids. It's a Free Fringe/Pay What You Can show. We paid a fiver each and I ended up leaving another tenner afterwards as it was worth it.

A mime/juggling/physical comedy act. Loads of audience participation and he's a total pro.

Is that still used as a euphemism? 🤔😁
There is no such thing as too much yarn, just not enough time.

Heard good reports about both these shows. I’m out and about tonight and both are on my radar.
