Anyone old enough to remember this?
I didn’t know the history!

Didn't know the back story to it but I remember it being there when I was a kid

Was a feature of the Ingliston Market IIRC.
The market was run by Spook Erections. Their logo was a pregnant ghost, with a halo. That always gave my teenage self a wee giggle.

My childhood memories are of alternate Sunday visits to Ingliston and East Fortune markets.
It probably wasn't quite as often as my old brain tells me now, but it certainly seemed like it at the time

remember the King Kong well, but had completely forgotten about the ghost logo until now, wow, seems so long ago and so recent at the same time

As a kid I was always told that if you got separated from your parents you should head to the King Kong statue , then your folks would know where to go to find you . Last I heard , it was in a warehouse somewhere and had been painted pink

Used to go to the market 2-3 times a year, remember buying radios, golf clubs, cagoules and rally jackets. You could also buy “raw” quavers and cook them in the chip pan. Also the first place I remember seeing local t-shirts. The one that comes to mind said “Jesus saves…..but Dalglish nets the rebound” which 12 year old me found hilarious but my church going mum found less than funny.

I used to like the donuts and watching the meat van funnily enough.
My Grandad and Dad would buy Autoglym Polish from their cars as there was a guy who would demonstrate its cleaning prowess.
Amazing what your remember when your memory is jogged.

The wee motorbikes were great, did Spooks not start off at top of Lothian Road.

Used to love a sunday wander around that market, I think it was one of the biggest in Britain at one point, used to get loads of copies of films etc.

The market was run by a crook whose name escapes me. He also had a shop selling cheap tat in Earl Grey St.

Chipped PlayStation games followed by chips and curry sauce and/or hot donuts
Previous poster mentioned it, but honestly felt like every other Sunday we'd hike through to ingleston or east fortune markets
The meat counter and King Kong, where every lost child had to go to stay safe
