SA decision making has been pretty poor in this game imo, 11-3 down and instead of going for touch with the penalty the dude took a certainly not easy kick at goals which he missed then near the posts he kicks it over to the wing where it was just a one-on-one and by no means his player would get it, which he didn't...anyway

Insipid, error-strewn and out of ideas too quickly.

I seen most of the games yesterday and I couldn't help but note we were the only home nation to not take their 'big' players with us - Hogg, Russell and Watson are major misses when they don't play.

I feel like a broken record, but it's time to move on from Townsend. Not because we lost a test yesterday, but because I consistently fail to see any improvement under his management. We're not progressing at all.

I fear for us in the Autumn Internationals if that same team turn up against the Wallabies, All Blacks and 'Los Pumas' () again.

Does anyone know when the schedule for the Commonwealth Games rugby 7s comes out? I have tickets for the 7s for Friday 29th. All I’ve been able to find is that games will be between 5:30PM and 10PM.

I need to buy train tickets to go back to London. I’d rather not plan on staying in Coventry until 10PM if Scotland’s last game that night is significantly earlier.

Scottish Rugby is a shambles below the National team, and to an extent the two pro sides. I could write hundreds if words on what a dysfunctional organisation it is especially if you are one if the smaller clubs. It is the demise of club rugby that is leading to the situation where our u23s etc are so poor. The national team we can prop up with foreigners but no one is going to come to Scotland to play u23.
My club hasn't had a 2nd XV out regularly for at least 10 years. We used to run 3 XVs and an U18s. There are bigger clubs who used to run six or seven teams at the weekend who now only have two.

Yeah but he is seen as a success cos we are doing OK at mens international level and we had huge investment from BT. I have been involved with my local club for 40 years now as a player, club captain, coach, committe member etc and the SRU are a disgrace. We have never been so poorly supported and the league structures are stupid to put it mildly. We are unfortunately in Midlands league now having been in national league for a while too. The Midlands league us regional but we could, and have, had to play Orkney and Caithness in the same season before. Orkney is a full weekend and £000 of pounds for the club. Caithness is at best all day Saturday and most if Sunday gone. For a regional amateur game that is awful. I could go on for hours about how inept the SRU are when it comes to the championship committees. Only interested in the bigger clubs with no regard to smaller ones. We will always be a feeder club but we get no help anymore to continue to feed players towards the big clubs. Aw, man I shouldn't have started that rant, my blood pressure is going up and it'll never change. Still too many posh boys running rugby who can't see past private schools and the big city clubs I'm afraid.

I feel your pain ! Just yesterday I was speaking to a friend who attended a dinner where Ian Paxton where was one of the principle speakers. Let's just say that Packy was none too complimentary about Scottish Rugby's hierarchy! What I didn't realise was the fact that Ireland has twice as many registered rugby players as Scotland and attracting kids to the game seems to be an increasing problem since covid appeared on the scene.

I feel your pain ! Just yesterday I was speaking to a friend who attended a dinner where Ian Paxton where was one of the principle speakers. Let's just say that Packy was none too complimentary about Scottish Rugby's hierarchy! What I didn't realise was the fact that Ireland has twice as many registered rugby players as Scotland and attracting kids to the game seems to be an increasing problem since covid appeared on the scene.

Ireland is a huge success. We have friends who are members of Ennis rugby club, when they lived in Scotland they were members of our club. Ennis is no bigger than my club here and no more successful. They are a junior club in the Munster catchment area. They are teaming with kids of all ages and do really well at age grade, they also have a pathway through to bigger clubs, Munster academy and then Ireland. In Scotland your pathway is made much easier for you if you attend one of the private schools. I sent one of the kids I coached, a really good player from a real rugby family, to Caledonia selection. Got the report back and it read like it was a different kid they had been assessing. When the Caley squad was announced it was full of Dollar Academy, Morrisons Academy, Aberdeen Grammer, Stirling County etc. We then played a game against another Midlands club and i was reffing. Our kid told me that two of the opposition back row had been at Caley camp with him so I watched how they got on against each other. They were certainly not any better than our boy but they did have the advantage of being at one if the bigger clubs in the district and also went to a private school. It also appeared that the Caey coaches/selectors are already aware of these kids as they mostly work with private schools and the bigger clubs. We could definitely learn from what and how Ireland have done as it just feels like we are fishing in a small pond and making it even smaller by overlooking a lot of potential players. My pals in Ireland having seen both countries don't think there is the same old school tie issue in Ireland as in Scotland

I'm from the Borders where traditionally Rugby Union is taught in the Schools and is definitely looked upon as being the working man's sport. Times are changing though and I'd say that football is now gaining the upper hand which in time, can only have a detrimental effect on the numbers participating in rugby union.
