We'll have a slightly tougher game 3 days later so the XI picked to start v Clyde will not necessarily be our strongest. I'll be surprised if more than 3 or 4 start both games.

Great problem to have and with the players you mention to come back it will only get tougher to choose.

I'd make Dabrowski the cup keeper for starters. LJ will have an idea of his strongest 11 but these games gives us a chance to play a couple of younger guys.

Miller
Porteous
McClelland
Stevenson
Kenneh
JDH
Campbell
Hauge

I thought Campbell was worth a shout out for today, he is so much better when more advanced. Not the greatest footballer in the world but with this high press he could be a key assist sometimes this season.

not a team i would suggest for a league game but since we should have most of the ball and it is the first home game for a lot of players, we should be trying to get as many exciting players on the park as possible
Marshall
Miller Porteous McClelland Doig
Tavares JDH Kenneh McGeady
Melkersen Youan
with Cadden, Delferriere, Hauge and Henderson all to get a good run out off the bench (assuming we get 5 subs in the League Cup?)Scottish by birth. Hibee by the grace of God.

Great options now. And to think we still have Mitchell, Magennis, Nisbet and Hanlon to return.

We need to win these games but also need to use them to be ready for the league. Marshall was out injured end of last season so needs games and also think we need to get him building an understanding with the defence. Would give Dabrowski a game in one of them but Marshall should play the bull of them IMO.

Really tough though as Delferriere, Henderson, JDH, Cadden and Campbell have all played well in pre-season and could easily start. Good options to have.
Think Doidge should be at the bottom of the forwards based on what he showed in Portugal compared to Melkerson and Youan.

I would like to see that team
I dont see any reason why Youan cant play in behind Melk, one of the most impressive things ive seen from him is his tracking back and winning the ball. Outstanding for a striker.
Tough choices

I'd have Delfierererererere starting. He looks like a class player! He brings a calm to the team

I thought rocky played well last season before he got injured. Then after that he was a bomb scare. Maybe he wasn't ready to come back in when he did

Mcgeady looks class. Youhan looks special. Miller looks good also but I still think he needs to beat Cadden at RB imo.

It's great we are all struggling to know who to leave out a best 11 - last season we struggled to put players in.
Some real headaches...
Marshall starts.
Youan looks like he is a starter.
Melkerson looks like he has put on muscle pre-season and looking real sharp.
McGeady looks class
Travers looks lively and Johnson rates highly
Nisbet is a first 11 pick when fit
Magennis is a first pick when fit
Miller shining in the 2 games
Cadden last year POTY
Henderson starting to step up, looks far more influencial in the middle.
Porteous starts - captain
Doig starts - we aren't a good enough team to leave out a £3million man.
Kenneh going to be a big player for us.
Newell looking strong pre season.
That's 14 -
Others are showing up well, Hanlon will probably play when back (or new CB). Still to see Bojang.
It's suddenly looking quite strong. Don't know what the best 11 would beLast edited by McGruber; 02-07-2022 at 07:42 AM.

How many subs are allowed in this competition.
If Hibs do rack up a good lead surely an opportunity to give all the available subs a decent run.

I can honestly say we should have enough for the other teams in the group to rotate as much as we can to get everyone more minutes.
I wonder if we will see a formation change from the previous two games to see how other styles work.
