So. A u-turn. It beggers the question - if its wrong for her then it's plain wrong. Why should others be able to carry on tricking the tax man?

That's how ridiculous things have become in the Uk amongst the Tory elite.
Some people (even posters on here) can see nowt wrong in the sheer hypocrisy and low morals of leeches like Sunak and his wife.

Standards at Westminster are at their lowest in my lifetime 😞

Sunaks wife to pay millions in tax so that her husband can keep his £150,000 pa job!

Obviously nothing untoward going on here.
I think it's nice that the main breadwinner in a family allows the little woman/man to go out to work, earn a bit of pin money, have some social life, etc.

No. I find the actions of the Tories far more offensive and objectionable.

so, the vertically challenged Sunak and tax avoiding wife have moved their belongings out of downing street, pity their corrupt neighbours aren't doing the same.

Rishi Sunak moves out of Downing Street as family face scrutiny over financial affairs - LBC

Removals vans were spotted at Number 11 on Saturday as the family packed up their belongings and headed for their newly-refurbished, luxury pad in Kensington.

All this debate about the Sunaks’ financial shenanigans has, as far as they are concerned, conveniently taken the spotlight off the earlier divulgence that the company her fortune is invested in, is actively operating in Moscow. Her father, who founded the company, apparently is/was a supporter/friend/admirer of Putin. I find that more repulsive than the tax issue.

This is exactly the point. The media are absolutely complicit in distraction. They distracted us initially by this weird narrative about ‘how committed are the couple really to the U.K.? Aren’t they going to move abroad?’ As if that were the main issue

Boris is winning the battle with Sunak. Leaks obviously coming from #10 to discredit Sunak and his man of the people narrative, then Boris charges off to Ukraine to get Zelensky to praise him to the hilt for ‘sending’ (‘selling’, they’re not for free) Ukraine lots of shiny weapons.

Loads to criticise Johnson for but supplying weapons to Ukraine isn’t one of them. Funding weapons purchases isn’t the problem for Ukraine, it’s getting the sales approved by timid NATO govts that is. Johnson doing better than most on this.

Ironically this is a classic example of distraction. I’m not criticising the action, I’m criticising the portrayal as some sort of humanitarian move. It’s not. It’s about sales. And Germany has received 300,000 Ukrainians and put them straight into their generous welfare system, i know which country is doing more for Ukrainians and it’s not the U.K. (although saying that, if we DID welcome Ukrainian refugees and gave them access to our pitiful welfare system they’d all be begging on the streets within days.

There's been zero suggestion on the news that we are selling weapons to Ukraine.

How are you so certain that we aren't, for once, just doing the right thing, because it's the right thing?!!

They are not selling weapons to Ukraine its military aid and has clearly been stated as that, they also put £500 million into the rebuild fund

We should be having much more refugees. Mainly because it's the right thing to do but also. But also immigrants give more in taxes than they take in benefits. The are a net benefit to the nation, but tories have been blinded by this. Ukranian immigrants are young, which sways that further

No ‘Aid’ is free. You’re confusing British arms manufacturers with LiveAid. They will end up making a profit from it.

Manufacturers will. UK government have bought them and are giving them to Ukraine for free. Can't really be twisted into anything else

The Tory Government are giving your money to their friends in the arms manufacturing business. It's a double win - they get praised for doing it (it's the right thing to do) and they also pay off some of their donors. Win win.

Mostly a win for Ukraine who if they had the money would pay the same arms manufacturers. Billions of pounds of free weapons, billions of dollars from US and billions of Euros from EU nations too

…meanwhile there will be Ukrainians who were sent to Home Office processing centres near the Polish border who are now dead because they were lied to about whether their claims could be processed or not. Because Priti has an actual policy of Hostile Environment for refugees. That’s the actual policy. So forgive me if I don’t get on board the U.K. Govt Are Having A Good War bandwagon.

Why is this guy still in a job?

He lumbers the cost of everything onto the ordinary tax payer but has rewarded those who already have more than enough in every budget

Are you absolutely sure that 300 000 refugees mainly made up of woman and children and some men over 60 who don't speak the local language are going to be an instant boost to the German economy or does it just fit your constant narrative that only Boris has it right and everyone else is only acting out of self interest?

Yes the younger the better. Immigrants are great for nations which is pretty much the opposite of what boris Patel and the ***** in the tory party believes. The tories have it wrong constantly. You have to be fair or you look like a loon and are fodder for the right.

Right wing commentators are loving people saying boris is a Russian stooge, as it makes the person saying it look daft. When that person then says of the millions of real tory mistakes they get laughed away.

Praise the uk military support or don't mention it. The headline isn't Ukraine its the fact 400,000 more people will be in poverty this year due to tory benefit cuts. The truth is bad enough

Most of these refugees will likely return to the Ukraine before they pay any kind of taxes into the German system. They've fled Ukraine for their lives, not to make a new one in sunlit uplands. Until then they have to be fed, clothed and accommodated.

The EU has opened it's doors to all of them, the UK has said you can come, but only once you've climbed this greasy pole using only one arm.
