Proper politicians take action and do things. Tory politicians procrastinate.

Devil's advocate question.
Raab spoke about safeguarding as the main issue. Is that genuine, or a red herring?

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

All over Africa, and indeed the wider empire, the Brit colonial governments imported indentured asian labour who carved a role for themselves and as a result engender hostility from the local populations.

I'd have thought it was a case of getting them all settled safely somewhere asap.
Next steps re new family's etc can take their due course/timescales ensuring all relevant checks are done.. including repatriation back to Ukraine/Ukrainian adoptive family's if that becomes possible and/or appropriate.

The Scottish charity Dnipro kids have evacuated 48 children from orphanages in Ukraine and is desperately trying to provide them with a temporary sanctuary in Scotland.
There is a plane ready and waiting in Poland but the blockage is the UK Home Office. I am pleading with them now to stop obstructing the process and let these children come to our home and to safety. #PMQsSpace to let

Raab - "we're keen to find out if family reunion options with family in the region has been considered".

People from Syria, and other nations, that have been here for a while, and still don’t have appropriate accommodation, including orphans, I suspect that the Ukraine’s will have to take there place in the queue .
I’m not saying this is correct, I’m just saying what I suspect the local authorities stance will be.

What a desperate state of affairs when you have such a professional, dedicated and long standing Scottish charity who have the Scottish government and Scottish local authorities totally behind them and everything is set up and ready to move yet the British still procrastinate and delay.
Scotland really is like no other country in the world.😥Last edited by The Baldmans Comb; 16-03-2022 at 07:00 PM.

What we are seeing in my opinion is the result of a historical combination of incompetence, apathy, and malice from the UK government.

Hope someone takes a pair of scissors to cut through the red tape. Wonder if players in the Scottish Premier and English Premier leagues could contribute 2 Days wages to charity or even the Hanlon Stevenson foundation, what a gesture that would be.Clubs could match contributions made by their players.

The media attention on this surely must have Boris,Raab and co rattled. Or does it ?
If the bairns and carers are not on that plane on Friday, this UK Govt should hang its head in shame and the electorate remember .
Hate them tory barstewrds, particularly the little lord fauntleroy Eton brigade.
Older trade unionist once said to me when i was in my youth!
"There are not enough lunatic asylums for working class tories"

But yes, that is effectively what it is. No need for vetting because there are no host families, it is an orphanage group and will remain as such (until it is safe to return to Ukraine).
