I’m banking on it. The union moving from one based on consent, which I accept it is now, to one enforced by law is great for those who want independence.

Is it though? A recent poll suggested otherwise and if that's the SNPs long term plan then it could backfire. Taken from this recent article.

    https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/...is-fading-away

"A new poll shows that only one-third of Scots want a referendum on independence to take place within the next two years. And while only a slim majority (51 per cent) support holding Britain together, the poll also found that only one-third of Scots believe it would be wrong for the UK Supreme Court to decide whether a referendum can take place.

Constitutional powers being decided at the UK level is, it turns out, absolutely fine with most Scots. That matters, because the Supreme Court could be the crucial institution that decides whether a poll can take place (that is, if law officers at Holyrood even let it get that far)."

You're all over the place mate.

You ask if the FM has revealed the legal advice on holding a referendum( something which no government does) but you knew that.

You then answer your own question in the 4th paragraph, without anyone knowing(apart from yourself apparently)

Chuck in something about only first votes counting, before claiming the FM is "squealing" about a lack of cash from your pals in Westminster.

Spending taxpayers money is her day job. 🌞

You've shoehorned a swipe about the FM squealing though, so you'll be a happy chappy.

Spending tax payers money on things that are illegal are not job, day or night .

What a crock of ****. If you want to see arrogance anywhere just look at your beloved Johnson and his attitude to just about everything.
    ” beloved Johnson “ ??

I don’t think I’ve posted anything complimentary about Boris Johnson on this or any other site.

But you just go on making things up, if it makes you feel better.

Whats illegal ? Something that’s not legal.

ie Holding a referendum without legal power to do so.

    Remember Catalonia.

Besides SNP/greens got the minority of first votes in the election.
How did the tories do in the 2019 election? Certainly less than the other parties got.

Do you have the advice that she's done something illegal. Please share, as I'd like to see it. 😂👀

I suppose if you can't provide that evidence, then you'd be accused of the thread title. ⚡

I'll point out here that I've not indulged in "Boris loving" whatever but have called greenginger out on an actual item he has posted but it is him that has ignored it.

Would you use that word about a male politician?

I would if they squealed , like plenty on this board do incessantly.

Do you have an issue with foreign workers coming to the UK? When it seems plain from the experience of the last year that we needed them?
I have no issues whatsoever , but a lot of people did, hence the vote by those individuals.

Yeah, whereas shrill stuff about "squealing" Sturgeon and illegal referendums is just jim dandy for open minded discussion.

Oh I'm sorry, did I conflate support of Johnson's right wing policies with support of the man himself? How remiss of me. Let's imagine instead of saying "beloved Johnson" I said "beloved right wing policies". Is that better?

And do you think it's ok that if a lot of people are racist, as long as they're in the majority, then it's ok to follow racist policies? Is that your view of what democracy should be? Do you have no concept about how we should be treating other people, about whether we should be better than we are?

We agree for a change :-)

If boris is ever asked the question, my view is that he should agree. That gets around the anti democracy claim.

He should then get on the front foot to set the terms of the referendum while also ensuring the case for the union is made and the case for independence exposed. I am pretty confident that Scotland would choose to remain in the UK, but accept that if we don’t then so be it.

I suspect though we will be in a never ending stand off as sturgeon doesn’t have the confidence she will win a referendum and boris or whoever is in charge doesn’t need to do anything.

I could have the wrong poster but weren’t you complaining/slagging the first minister for not calling a referendum quick enough, and questioning what could possibly be holding it up, only a few days ago?

Thinking back , if there was one event that tipped the vote in Leaves favour, it was the arrogance and intransigence of the EU.

The UK was getting huge amounts of foreign workers coming in and David Cameron went to EU to ask for some limitation powers for a couple of years, that Germany, France, Holland etc had had previously.

The EU said No, and Cameron came back empty handed

I thought at the time, that EU might just have tipped the balance of the vote.

If I remember correctly the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 were all biased remainders, as were the leaders of all main political parties.

Remain also spent about 50% more on he referendum than leave , yet you think the referendum was stacked in Leaves favour.

My opinion is that it was a lot simpler than that - racist people tipped the balance.

    That and all the lies.

    Lol.

I know you won’t believe it but I have a more open mind than I had in 2014. Granted though I am probably as likely to change my mind as you are. I would like the case to be published so we can assess what the detailed plans are.
