Because Ross said he’s been in close contact with Boyle and spoke about it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
There’s difference in saying “I think Boyle should leave” and “I’ve been speaking to Boyle about it and I think he should leave”
One is an opinion and one implies the player wants to go, which puts pressure on the club.

Shaun may not be that displeased that Martin is leaving
Certainly Martin and Jack got on well.
Could be Martin was looking to leave after Jack got sacked.
Below is Martin's comments on the sacking
Personal opinion, it wasn't great. Not a great situation," Boyle, 28, said.
"It was obviously not my decision but certainly one that I don't agree with.
I'd probably say harsh.
Ultimately, he still kept the squad together and we still believed in what we wanted to achieve.
"Signing a new contract under him and obviously probably a bit part of why I signed as well, he showed a lot of belief in what he wanted to do with the club."
Those comments said before Christmas.
I thought then that Martin would likely be off this month, no matter what Jack Ross said today
Saying that ,Jack should have kept his mouth shut about Boyle (to the press)
Just stoking the fire,doing that.

I think Sean will be more annoyed about the Boyle chat.

Good, the fact Ross would talk to that vile rag and come out with what he has proves he didn't have a clue.

Good man Maloney. Bit of dig about you.
JR isn’t just another pundit, he’s a nose out of joint pundit who shouldn’t be advising Hibs on what the should do with their players.Last edited by Dalianwanda; 21-01-2022 at 05:09 AM.

There will be a phonecall happening I'd imagine. Massive fan of Jack Ross but not sure why he had to speak out although don't think he said anything wrong. Wasn't helpful though.

Well said Maloney. Ross perfectly entitled to his opinion and to voice it in public but he knew what he was doing when it became I talk to my mate Martin everyday telling him what to do. That’s nothing more than an attempt to undermine Maloney. Think a number of players will have a similar relationship with Ross. Expect more of them to get emptied. Those great mates of Ross are also the ones who ultimately got him sacked……

Firstly, for what it’s worth, I liked Ross as our manager and was disappointed for him when he was shown the door, but I think he is out of order to make the sort of comments suggested here ( I haven’t read them but get the gist). He sounds like a bitter man and, in my opinion, has lost some sympathy and respect.

Ross was trying to hawk one of our players in the media and heavily implied he still had Martin Boyles ear.
I would have been raging if I was Maloney as well.
Everyone knows football is like any other business and people look for advice from ex managers, colleagues etc but a former manager actively involving himself in the media furore surrounding an ongoing transfer situation is poor stuff. Ross wouldn't have liked Neil Lennon or Alan Stubbs trying to talk up Boyle to Celtic in the media.

Much as I was neither happy nor sad at Ross leaving the article in the paper did him no favours. I can see the point of him not getting to lead the team out at hampden but he was on a horrendous run and he knows that only ends up one way. P45. We have won 3 league games, drawn one, lost to the celtic who we very rarely take something from away and negotiated a tough cup tie minus loads of players due to injury and suspension.
Wrong time for Ross to appear in the papers IMHO. The results have shown it was the right decision and as for Boyle very naughty stirring the pot there. Its up to hibs,as it would have been if he'd been in charge, to proceed as they see fit. If the bid doesnt match their valuation then no. End of. Plus if we sell Boyle only 10 days to get a replacement in.
.net has become so negative these days I can go days without looking. The bounce is far fairer now IMHO. Mcginn back for well, porteous after that game our new signings will soon gel. Onwards and upwards

I stuck up ror Ross right to the end. He's gone now and I fully support the new manager. I get that Ross will have been asked questions but he could easily have kept some if that to himself. Totally understand why Maloney would be a bit pissed off

Don’t understand why Maloney has made this a “thing”. Boyle was already finalising his move by the time the article emerged. Didn’t affect any element of it .
Can understand people on here wanting to protect Hibs, but still think Maloney has come across overly sensitive on it .
Could be interesting at times though, if Maloney is going to pick people up for things they do and things they say like this - could be some good after match interviews ….

After Boyle's comments after Ross left, I wonder if he told his agent to get it sorted and wanted out.
