Chelsea were after Digne but didn't want to pay the 30 odd mil for a 29yo, Villa got it down to 10 mil. Doesn't matter who was interested in Coutinho, everyone knows how good a player he is. If we're talking spending power Villa have spent 300 odd mil in the last 3 windows so, wouldn't sat there's any club that can blow them out the water financially atm.

Glazer family net worth 3.1b, Nassef Sawris and Wes Edens are worth over 10b. Grealish said Villa more than matched Citys offer for him with money and it was about trophies for him so yeah, I do think Villa can outspoken UTD relatively comfortably. You just don't hear about it in the media because it's all about UTD.

And I disagree on winning things. Anyone telling me hes going to win anything at UTD has to look at their rotten to the core squad and lack of any success recently.

I think if Liverpool/City we're interested we'd be fighting a losing battle, but I don't see him going to a failing UTD team when hes in a team openly trying to get back to Europe right now, and having a serious go at it.

The owners worth and the clubs worth are completely separate.

You think Villa are a richer club than Utd?

He's more chance of winning a trophy with Utd than with Villa, that's for sure.

I dont think SJM to Utd is far fetched.

I maybe shouldn't have worded it as the richer club, Villa are owned by owners considerably wealthier than Uniteds and owners who have been splashing the cash. So money wouldn't be an issue. Its far fetched to me because there's never been any activity from United over the last 2 years of being linked every window, and Villa aren't in a situation where they'd need to accept an offer, so it would depend on how much is offered and if the club feel it's too good to turn down.

I know I know! He has been well backed so far though. As has been pointed out some will definitely leave which will hopefully give us some scope to sign another one or two.

It feels like we’ve got loads of central midfielders but none of them particularly standing out. JDH/Newell too similar, Hallberg and Gogic well out of the picture and Magennis nowhere near ready. I’d want another option for in there if we can get some of them out.

It might look like that but I think his confidence is shot and he needs a break from starting.

The thing for me with Nisbet is this isn’t a dip in form, he’s been like this since January 2021.

The first couple of months he was brilliant and since then he’s been pretty poor, granted he’s shown it on occasion but it’s few and far between.

He’s put on weight and his work rate is miles off what it was when he first joined, he was an absolute dog and constantly pressed defenders and chased every ball and made it good.

Now he’s shrugged off the ball with ease.

Think its pretty clear despite the odd goal that he just isnt that good, his first touch is bad, doesnt really have a lot of pace, his heading is terrible, if he was playing for another team in the last 12 months we wouldnt want him at the club
