Watching Michael Fabricant on sky news trying to defend the actions of the Tories having their parties at Downing Street. You cannot tell the public to obey rules and then break the rules. Boris must go now and others who broke the rules be dealt with accordingly. Their arrogance is beyond belief.

You know they're absolutely scraping the barrel when Syrup boy is the only one who'll go on telly to defend him.

Wigs still present in the house of commons.😁

Have been impressed by Douglas Ross and Ruth Davidson on their stances on this issue they are exasperated at the way their party (sorry for the pun) at no 10 and in the Parliament are acting.

I notice that Johnson is apologising for the upset ‘which the allegations have caused’ and not the upset ‘which their actions have caused’. Smoke screening the issue and expecting to be cleared of any misdoing, which will be the case. He appears to be unscrupulously untouchable.

It’s from his own ****ing PPS There is no way in the world the PMs own PPS could have the authority to do that without the PMs own authority?!

It’s as if they are trying to see how much they can get away with.
I’m a Whitehall based civil servant. I’ve seen the same take as you on twitter, but I disagree. If I received the same email from my SoS’s PS, I would assume that the “we” in the email referred to the private office as a group and that they were inviting people from the wider department. If the invite had anything to do with the SoS, it would say so. You can’t automatically assume any minister is directly involved in their staff’s social events.

But if he is there then it’s a slam dunk, surely?

I’ve always said this guy is Teflon and nothing will stop him but I’m beginning to waver. I have a sneaky suspicious that he’ll be gone before PMQ’s tomorrow. No evidence or anything, just feel it’s inevitable now and he will want to avoid one more embarrassment.

Polls turning against him and Tories panicking about them will stop him, nothing else.

Are you talking about slam dunk that he planned it or just did not stop it from going ahead? Although in these circumstances there may not be much of a difference between the two in terms of an error in judgment.

It is possible that a PO organises something, the minister happens to walk by and then decides to stick his head in for a moment (thank people for their hard work, etc…).

Who’s really leading Britain – Boris Johnson or the crazy-face emoji? | Marina Hyde | The Guardian

I’m afraid the only sane response to this is: what?! What are you even talking about? Did you or didn’t you go to a big party in your garden, you smirking fibreglass toby jug? Or do you also have to wait for some veteran civil servant to tell you whether or not you put your pants on the right way round this morning? Honestly mate, just MAN UP.

Instead of saying WTF is going on here, everybody out now? Because that’s the only thing that gets him off the hook here.

I used to be a U.K. govt civil servant myself, although that does not in itself give you or I any particular unique insight on this situation which is so blatantly obvious. The PPS was acting on behalf of #10. If the PPS is acting in exclusion from his PM, arranging his own parties at Whitehall it would be the first time in recorded parliamentary history. It’s a ridiculous suggestion.

That’s all fair and well, until the party is hosted at the PM’s house, surely?

The classic tactic of a racist - to falsely call the accuser a racist. Trump did it repeatedly and millions of his supporters loved him for it.

Same as fans of The Rangers since 2012, calling everybody else bigots as a deflection tactic to their own bigotry

Apparently his new pal Novak lied on his visa about overseas travel. Nigel is good at lying as well, would be at home in the Tory 🥳.

It was his own garden, he was allowed to go and drink in it. He didn't know other people were going to be there, he was furious when he found out and left immediately after finishing his first couple of bottles of wine. He broke no rules, vaccine rollout, and the matter's closed.

What time does this start? I very rarely have the opportunity to watch it.
What gets me is surely the police knew that this party was happening?
