That IS a good read. The one thing it needs is to point out the eye watering wealth that the RMs were and are swimming around in. Understanding the fathers ideology is definitely important, but a lot of it bypasses ideology and is down to base financial self interest. He’d be a pro European if he thought it would improve his personal bottom line.
His main wealth streams probably weren't a major risk consideration by the time Brexit was delivered as he seems to have managed to move quite a bit from good old Blighty to Ireland just before the dream was delivered.

That's the Ireland that seems to be part of Europe.

Obviously its officially nothing to do with brexit at all and suitably worded explanations followed.

I remember being in the Thornton British Legion and somebody asked what happened to the end of night tune. Old boy said not in here we don't.
I was lured into Billy's Bar in Prestonpans by a young lady I was courting back in the mid 80's. I refused to stand up for the national anthem at the end of the night which caused a bit of a carfuffle inside and out. Luckily for me nobody messed with big Wilma (RIP).

The Port o’ Leith used to always finish the night with Sunshine on Leith with folk up dancing on the bar and tables. It was utter glorious mayhem even my Hearts pals would join in the drunken singsong.

I was once in a big republican bar in Ireland and there were a load of Gypsy lads in playing pool and having a drink. At the end of the night when the Irish national anthem came on, the gypsy lads carried on playing pool and didn’t pay any attention to it. It wasn’t pretty afterwards.

I was a serving soldier back then, can't remember ever having to stand for gstq. I did take her shilling though but had my fingers crossed at the oath of allegiance.

To be fair I have been known to belt out "away doon at Gorgie" in a drunken stupor, you can blame my Hearts supporting mother for that.

Like many who are knocking on a bit, I'm guilty of hypocrisy. I find the older me tut tutting at such behaviour but can still remember the younger me trying to provoke a pagger with some carefully chosen tune aimed at a certain audience. We all have our skeletons.

Tory voters in South England now turning on Boris Johnson saying he "can't be taken seriously". Really? WTF took you so long?

For some it's very personal, they don't have it in them to see they might not have got what they voted for, just plain got it wrong or been conned on issues that were important to their world view.

You have to wonder if this is the incident that will make him go. The rage pre Xmas on this type of stuff was huge, this is arguably the worst example.

Have people moved on now or will constituents lose the plot with MPs.

It’s from his own ****ing PPS There is no way in the world the PMs own PPS could have the authority to do that without the PMs own authority?!

It’s as if they are trying to see how much they can get away with.

I know Corbyn would have fellatioed a goat while chanting anti Semitic devil worshipping tropes while having a covid restriction busting party if he was in charge, i mean thank god it’s not that Russian oligarch loving nutcase but still, Boris must have some questions to answer, no?

Saw that. He's certainly the teflon man, but not so sure the cheshire cat grin is going to go down too well, even in deepest Englandshire.

The police would have known this as guard number 10. I see they are “liasing” with the cabinet office rather than investigating. I recall these parties were taking place at the same time plod were driving round our local park threatening people and telling them to go home.

The Met knew what was happening at Downing Street. How can they be trusted?

Cressida Dick must have been made a Dame by Johnson for services to keeping your mouth shut!

At least we now have a idea of how Bojo and other cabinet members caught Covid at the time, just a shame nothing will be done about it as they are in a different league to other ministers who laws do apply to.

This party took place a month *after* Johnson was allegedly in intensive care suffering from Covid. He seems to have recovered very quickly.

Am I the only one who hopes he doesn't go straight away? Sunak terrifies me, and every time a new scandal like this comes out the more they slip in the polls.

The longer this goes on, the more in the Tory party are involved and tarnished with it.

Agreed. I think we are far enough from the next election that if Johnson goes now, Sunak will have time to come in and repair the damage, and it will all be forgiven by the electorate.

Was Sunak next door during the party season at No 10.

Gove’s absence in recent months is probably telling (or is he still on the dance floor)
