I mentioned about my daughter, already in a post on here somewhere, she caught covid when she was a fit and healthy 18 year old, she wasn't too bad with covid at the time but ended up extremely fatigued at the slightest things, end result she was off work for a few months. .... even now coming up for almost 2 years later she still has periods of extreme fatigue and has had to change jobs as a result. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I think a good way to strike a balance with learning "to live" with covid, would be to make LFD's available on prescription to anyone in the priority vaccination cohorts. That could help build their confidence by asking/providing them to people to use in advance of meeting. Also, issue FFP 2/3 masks on prescription to the same groups. That would be a sensible transitioning strategy for the vulnerable and allow others to regain pre-covid normality.

I certainly don't know for sure that omicron is milder. What I do know is a friend of a friend who was triple jabbed with no underlying health conditions died from Covid in December.
Until the clinicians advise that the threat from the omicron variant is manageable, it's responsible for Governments to be cautious. Just like most European Governments are being, with England being the outlier.

Sorry to hear about your friends friend but it is milder, it genuinely isn’t even up for discussion.

So the clinicians are optimistic, which is great, but their interpretation is far from factual. I think i'd prefer take their advice rather than the Daily Mail or some of the Facebook conspiracy theorists. Just as well most Governments are too.

What definitely is a fact, is that we don’t know the effect of contracting the omicron variant on the human body 4/5 weeks after getting it. Unless some folk can see into the future that isLast edited by The Harp Awakes; 10-01-2022 at 11:14 PM.

She doesn't want to say it's milder as it's obviously still not something you want, if you say it's milder people say I'm not doing any more restrictions.
She was happy to say it might be as dangerous when a Danish study of 20 people showed that. When the study had thousands and showed its much milder. Then hundreds of lab and real life studies showed its milder, its silly to say might be now

Interesting data from France. Omicron makes up 90% of cases but 54% of hospitalisations. Lots of trouble from delta still, hopefully it gets driven out soon. Lots of incidentals in France too
Paul Mainwood
@PaulMainwood
France splitting hospitalisation data by variant! In the UK we are forced to infer from time series - very prone to error.
Omicron associated with shorter stays (43% less than a day!) and with less critical care.

NS on the news ealiar with Mackay (who has previous for being a arse) interviewing was something else, stumbling her words and getting pissed off when asked difficult questions.
The tone has changed with her though and pretty certain most restrictions will be lifted.Last edited by LunasBoots; 11-01-2022 at 01:35 AM.

The Scottish Government is being urged to halve the Covid self isolation period from 14 days to seven for care home residents.
Current isolation rules have been deemed “barbaric and damaging” by relatives and care providers, which see residents confined to their rooms for 14 days – twice as long as the rest of the population.
They are calling for the rules to be brought in line with changes made for the general public last week.

It seems pretty clear that the recent restrictions were poorly targeted and had next to no impact at all on our experiences. They did however have a significant impact on some businesses and some of their staff.
I am sure come 14:15 we will see some changes, but I will not be surprised if somehow its all the fault of Westminster.
