Because they are ****ing nuts hopefully. Totally different mechanisms to vaccine, so they will have to update their
fake science. Your right probably won't but might be needle phobic people, and also easy to distribute as a pill to people's homes
A perfect example of what divides people. You may choose to close your mind to the concerns around vqccination, but there is evidence out there from credible sources. I’m not going to bother directing you to any of it, that’s clearly a waste of time.

Calling people ****ing nuts and dismissing all concerns as fake science isn’t going to win people over.

The vast majority of antivaxers are ****ing nuts. I know there are some that have genuine concerns, but those concerns must be getting less and less as the success of the vaccine rollout continues. There s no credible source that says the vaccine is unsafe and for everyone that makes this claim there’s a thousand to say otherwise.

    United we stand here....

France are banning travel to and from the UK from Saturday morning without a compelling reason.
Unconfirmed, unless you have a source I haven’t seen?
Edit-ah yes. You are correct. ****.

That’s my trip in January scuppered. Just got to wait for Ryanair to cancel the flight.

They’ve got a trump card. My mate says there’s no long term study. What will happen in 20 years?

I point out that he might not make 20 years anyway, but it falls on deaf ears.

This is one of those rare posts that you get on Hibs.net that could just as easily have been lifted off kickback, albeit with a slightly different context.
They have just printed it. They have a choice of "parking it" (ie like war debt, so we don't have to worry about it just now) or choosing to ask the populace to pay it back starting now. They are going for the latter meaning more austerity immediately. Whilst giving the highest earners tax breaks of course.

Mine too. Although the return flight to Marseille was £31, a blow which I can take.

That cock Michael O'Leary will be taking to the airwaves soon to complain to anyone who will listen, saying the skies should be open to all but the unvaccinated. It was only in the summer he was saying the days of cheap air travel are over, prices were going to go through the roof etc etc. Oh, so why is the return from edinburgh to marseille still £30 you lying toad.

It’s very different though. The Bank of England did not borrow this money to lend to the UK, it created it. Very different from Vlad.

Between 2 July 2020 and 29 Nov 2021, people who were unvaccinated were approximately three times more likely to be reinfected with #COVID19 than those who had their second vaccination 14 to 89 days ago http://ow.ly/HgiX50Hc0aB

I can see alot of the unvaccinated getting their second dose of covid in the next month

I saw you mention a trip to France earlier in the thread. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You can't blame them though with the amount of cases we're having here.

Haulers are excluded, so you can expect all your French fancies still to hit the shelves.

Personally think you can, they’re on about 65,000 cases a day and that’s with less testing, plus the fact they’ll definitely have Omicron already spreading like wildfire there too

Travel restrictions are an elitist, regressive, illiberal policy that only make sense in the very earliest days of an outbreak. After that, like so many other NPIs, total theatre that stem from a willingness to be seen as ‘doing something’

It's beyond stupid if it's to try and stop Omicron. Even pro restriction indy sage say they are against travel bans for it, testing is better. Its like whether or not you throw 1 or a dozen matches into a fully burning house one Prof put it.

Honestly France, you've already got Omicron, it's probably doubling every few days and if you want to slow it down look to domestic measures not international ones.

Utterly pointless just like our SA ban. When are countries going to learn that once you have community transmission these things don't make any meaningful difference

The current escalation around covid is worrying for all of us. For various reasons this is a stressful time for a everyone and with something so emotive it is perfectly understandable that emotions are running high. We are all living in a weird limbo at the moment, awaiting further restrictions and somewhat unsure of what we should and shouldn't be doing. This has dragged on for a long time and people are tired, scared, fed up, anxious, concerned and whole host of other descriptors.

With that in mind can the collective admin team on Hibs.net please appeal to people to think twice about what they post, before they post. Robust debate, differing opinions and frank discussion is absolutely fine. Childish name calling and nasty sarcasm is most definitely not.

We have tried to allow conversations around covid to flow as much as possible. However at such a difficult time we simply can't sit by and allow the above behaviours. Consider this a friendly warning that we will be taking a tougher line on posts playing the man rather than the ball from now on.

To be honest I think a difference of opinion has been respected in this thread mostly. I think most have varied ideas on what the best policy is but everyone understands that . On the other hand the threads on the main boards can be brutal, anti vax, anti lockdown and minimalising it as just the flu.

Its a political decision, he has a big election and is trying to steal the nationalist vote from some actual fascists. So waving his 'roast the rosbifs' big willy about is good PR. Im normally on the French side in any dispute but its pure politics.

Has there honestly been much needle in this thread? There’s obviously disagreement/debate but I really haven’t seen much in the way of name calling or nastiness. Will obviously try and do all I can on my part to ensure that continues to be the case, as I enjoy talking to people with a wide range of views about this topic

Very true. I’m sure when vaccines for smallpox or polio were developed there were people saying the same thing.

It sounds like most of the aggro has taken place on the main board. I dont go there under protest ever since we sacked Hegginbotham so I wouldnt know.

Political decisions on borders have been taken for the last couple of years, and they continue to do so. I'd agree with your point about being seen to be doing something though. We're in that spiral of doom again.

Think so, LBD on twitter strongly hinted it is. LoD creator Jed Mercurio has put out a couple of worthy tweets recently as well.

I beg to differ. There are credible sources out there for all that have the the capacity not to blindly accept everything they are being told.

I think admin should be removing this kind of response. It does stifle discussion

Groundhog day from when the vaccines were first getting rolled out. 5 billion later I thought it would be the end of it. Thankfully 99% of over 50s don't get their information from obscure websites and doctors, they stepped up and got vaccinated legends
