Although both are sea waves, a tsunami and a tidal wave are two different and unrelated phenomena. A tidal wave is a shallow water wave caused by the gravitational interactions between the Sun, Moon, and Earth ("tidal wave" was used in earlier times to describe what we now call a tsunami.) A tsunami is an ocean wave triggered by large earthquakes that occur near or under the ocean, volcanic eruptions, submarine landslides, or by onshore landslides in which large volumes of debris fall into the water. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. They made me cancel my appt I had already arranged for 28th Dec over the phone first so make sure you do that first if going.
Glad I got it out the way. And probably saved me a few hours of queueing at Inglison on 28th.

Heavily caveated pledge from Nicola Sturgeon to "aim" to give boosters to all eligible people 18+ by end of year "if possible". Previous aim was end of Jan.
FM also reiterates it's "possible" that "further, proportionate protective measures or advice" are coming https://t.co/6WInRUMdMl

My mother in law can’t look after my kids tomorrow as she came into contract with someone who has the omricon variant and had been told to self isolate until Thursday despite being double jabbed and tested negative through a PCR test.
Are you saying she doesn’t need to self-isolate?

Seemed like pretty significant news to me. Certainly a hell of an ambitious target set in terms of boosters.
No question the government(s) are extremely worried about this new variant.

If you are a fully vaccinated adult identified as a non-household close contact, you should isolate and get a PCR test as soon as possible. Provided you return a negative PCR test result and remain asymptomatic, you may end self-isolation.

I think case numbers are about to go through the roof in Edinburgh. Heard from 3 unconnected people today that have had positive lateral flow tests and booked in for PCR tests tomorrow! All of them will have a number of close contacts too I think

New restrictions are likely "in the next few weeks" in Wales to deal with the new Omicron variant, the health minister has said.
Eluned Morgan said the Welsh government wanted "to act proportionately", but a spike in cases of the variant was expected "quickly."
It comes as First Minister Mark Drakeford warned Omicron could lead to "large numbers" of people in hospital.

Makes you wonder why we (UK and Scotland) slowed so much on the boosters when their value (30 x more protection?) was so obvious. We have been unlucky with the new variant but we knew the severity of the consequences for hospitality and wider economy that we should have been going through boosters at the same rate as initial vaccinations just in case. It feels like we took our foot off the pedal at just the wrong time and the various governments are now faced with very difficult decisions.

Me and the Mrs are both now triple jabbed but if the wee man comes home from school with it, we’re then all in isolation for Christmas as a result, even if we both test negative.
There’s part of me tempted to just keep him off school with how rife it is with these rules in place.Last edited by B.H.F.C; 12-12-2021 at 09:50 PM.

Booster received today at Gorebridge Leisure Centre. A very efficient service and had my vax within about 10 minutes of arrival. No side effects so far other than a slightly dull ache at the injection site, as per my first two doses.

I think that by the end of the week a lot of parents will be keeping their kids off school to avoid having to isolate over Christmas. Is it Friday that Edinburgh schools finish?
