It seems impossible to get the third vaccine, even for eligible workers who are frontline health or social care staff.

I've tried phoning several times and looked at outlying areas for vaxx. Nae chance.

There's simply no appointments, looks like this is being rolled out particularly effectively. Pretty damn disgraceful really, WTF is going on?
I booked mine online on Saturday, I’m booked in for the 12th. I’ve had to go down to Haddington but that’s only 20 minutes for me.

The Portuguese National Health Institute has announced that the 13 players infected at Belenenses were all positive with the new Omicron variant

It's already spread in Europe. If its more transmissible than Delta then travel bans are like closing the barn door when the horse is a week away. If it's less it will die out. Australia has one of the strictest travel rules in the world. But delta got in and and it went from zero to thousands of cases even with a full lockdown.

Thanks for that, we were finding it impossible to find a way to get my 17yr old his second vaccine as the online appointment system doesn’t have a category for him to pick so he couldn’t book an appointment and they haven’t bothered to send him one.

17 year olds aren't getting their second dose just now. Anybody over 18 can walk in to most centres for their second dose as long as they are over the 8 week mark from their 1st dose.

Got an appointment for the 20th Dec, out at Bonnyrigg. Thanks for help and advice everyone. It was harder to book than I expected, but there are appointments available. You'll just have to do a wee bit travelling.
There's earlier appointments showing for Ingleston from early December. All my family from age 20-80 in the top 9 groups have had their boosters now. The majority at Pennywell, they kept checking and said new appointments were added which allowed them to keep rescheduling to make the date sooner. Said it was a very efficient service, in and out.

I didn’t realise there was more venues available, I wasn’t scrolling down the list. I’ve now rescheduled mine for a week tomorrow at Gorebridge.

This is so confusing, I seen on the news the JCVI had advised them to get it, guess it must just be in England for now until Scotland decide to allow it.

Makes no sense to me, a 17yr old out at school etc all day is far more likely to catch than me sitting at home working.

Thanks for the info, at least I know why now!

Your teen can book on-line from tomorrow if they meet the criteria.

I went for a meal at the Beechwood pub near Hampden the other day and almost nobody was wearing a mask.

Seemed a bit strange as everywhere else (cafes, shops, chemists, etc) I've visited recently is still taking it seriously.

Is this just a general pub culture thing?
Certainly seems to be heading that way in my experience.

I'm guessing here but I think it may be more about getting over 40s boosted as quickly as possible .
Anybody walking in I'd advise to go early morning or about 6pm and try to avoid weekends if possible or be prepared for a queue rather than just pop in and out .

Apologies. I hadn't seen that. Last one I saw was 21st saying they were postponed

Request from Scotland and Wales for a 4 Nations approach to travellers to isolate and test for 8 days rejected by Boris!!

may have been updated since your post, but there’s nothing in that article about boris responding at all, it just explains what NS and Welsh FM are seeking

Thats why I said it's breaking news. It's not on the websites but reported on the radio

Thanks both, feeling a bit low with it today but what can you do. I think many of us are a bit threadbare for various reasons at the moment.

If we should have to isolate and test twice after foreign travel, the SNP government should be stepping in and making sure the monopoly that is CMT (whatever they are) are made to reduce costs. £170.00 for the two tests is extortion.

The devolved nations can bring in this rule tomorrow if they want.

Just getting a chance to catch up. I understand the tone of Sturgeon's briefing was fairly positive this morning although clearly there's a lot of unknowns at this stage.

Still remaining hopeful that Omicron won't be the disaster that some scientists feared it might be a few days ago.

The prices were a swiz and very dodgy. Should have bought them from a government provider at a non profit set price

Having said the above, this seems to paint a rather different picture.

Virologist Drosten “Quite concerned” about Omicron version.

I found her to be quite positive . I generally find her to be very guarded but didn't get that feeling today. The biggest thing I took from it was to remember that the vaccine may be less effective against this variant but not ineffective so the message is still to get the vaccine to stop severe illness if you do catch it.

Doesn't really say much apart from it could have vaccine escape. No one knows about Omicron but alpha, beta and delta had vaccine escape already.

It will be flimsy and impossible to prove like the evidence you said should transmt had spread cases, although transmit your think would be safer as outdoors. I think both wouldn't have caused any problems to be fair
