Not really anything strange about that?
I like the sound of a back three of Porteous McCart and Hanlon.

I’d rather have Paul McGinn in there.

Are we actually going back in for McCart or have we given up?

  5. #214
To me McCart plays in a reinforced defence in a team set up to play defensively.Maybe unfair but I see nothing in his game to suggest he would fit into our style which relies on defenders being comfortable on the ball in bringing it out of defence.

Him in the middle. Porto right . Hanlon left.

    Good points.

St Johnstone have usually booted the attacking player up in the air by the time they get near their box as well. Remind me of McInness Aberdeen in the way they tag team foul.

He would be a good signing but as others have said he’ll be on too much for us and I’m sure he’ll want to give England a decent go before coming back up the road. I’m not sure about McCart but what about saints captain Liam Gordon.
Gordon signed a new contract last month until 2024

I’d say one established centre half for competition even a second in the same mould as McGinn, right back, centre half.

    Another central midfielder for competition

    Centre forward or two.

    Out:
    Hallberg
    Mackie
    Gullan potentially
    Gogic potentially

    New contracts
    Allan
    Porteous
    Nisbet
Allan won't get a new contract
I fear Porteous will be gone in the summer but I hope you are right
Nisbet is contracted until 2024 so no uber rush there

I’d be slightly concerned if McCart is mobile enough/good enough to play in a back 4 . No issues if he’s part of a back 5 as looks steady enough

Think it was McCart who got caught out when Nisbet scored in the first half. Given offside but very clearly onside. Now if that had been one of our centre backs😔

Allan should get a new contact as the guy is class and yesterday only further proves his case for a longer deal .

Allan will be offered a new contract 100%. Why wouldn’t he? Whether he accepts it is another matter. Unless there’s someone else to come in.

In Allan’s case it’s not as simple as that. He still wants to play every week. Last season he went on loan to Caley to play every week. He might not want another contract if he’s only a bit part player

His loan move to ICT was outside of our window and only to get him games following his recovery. He had been out ill for months. Last half dozen games or something he went to Inverness?.
He’s bound to want games of course as he clearly loves playing football but if he’s not going to
play every week anywhere he’d be as well not doing it where he is so highly thought of.

Would prefer him to McCart. To be honest, I'd probably prefer Robert Mugabe to McCart

    You know if we’re interested?

We were linked with him in the summer, can’t remember if it was just on here though or a more reliable source.

It'll be a great day when the fans stop trying to link us with St Johnstone defenders.

    Other defenders are available

I don't think I'd go anywhere near another St Johnstone player again given our recent history of signings from them.

There something about it that players can look good in their very specific system but come to Hibs and look decidedly average.

Did we not actually bid for at least one of them? So not really fans linking the club but actually the club doing the job themselves

Correct, according to both the media & the club we had three offers knocked back for him, (thank goodness, not as good as we already have imo).

Jack says some players will be leaving us in January to ‘balance the squad’ (source: EEN).

So who’s out the door then?
