Sevco pushed the boat out in getting Gerrard to stop Celtic getting the ten and succeeded. I doubt the next appointment will be a big name, Poundland coaches are on alert 😆

You think managing Watford, Brighton, Burnley, Brentford would be more attractive than Celtic/Rangers, I don’t agree
I think they’d be significantly more financially appealing.

    I disagree.

There’s a strong chance Celtic could win the league this year and if they do, Gerrards reputation will be shot to pieces, if he wins the league his stock won’t get any higher than it is now.

Aston Villa are a huge club who will spend a lot of money on players. He’s got an opportunity to get back into the premiership which will be more appealing than a few games in Europe against some pretty average and some decent sides.

There’s also the family side of it, apparently his family have stayed down south and he travels back a couple of times a week. Getting to go and live back home again would be a huge appeal.

I think it’s a no brainer for him.
Assuming he lives near Liverpool Is Birmingham so much closer to home that the drive is a PITA??

    Glasgow to Liverpool 4 hours.

    Birmingham to Liverpool 2 hours.

I know which I'd rather do on a regular basis!

15/20 years ago not a chance. Now? Absolutely. Those clubs could spend money on one player that would be the equivalent to Rangers entire budget.

Usually when we have an importnant game with the hun, the papers are full of speculation on our manager. Not this time though.

I read today (think it was the Daily Record online) that Gerrard really rates him and tried to sign him for Rangers. I wasn't aware of that.
Wonder what the reaction of the grandson of a former Celtic chairman would be to that.

  10. #759
Seems Russell Martin or Gio Van Bronckhorst are the names being linked with huns job.

Will be interesting to see who is in charge when they play Hibs.

Wonder if Big Dunc might fancy cutting his teeth up here?
Not a chance. Big Dunc is in with the bricks at Everton, he will be still part of the set up when hes an old man. it's his life and his families.

Gives them time to get a replacement in for the semi final. New manager bounce or a chance for Hibs to take advantage?
There is no such thing as too much yarn, just not enough time.

No way they'll have a manager in by the semi.

I'm just a wee bit miffed we never beat him.

I think it’ll work in our favour rather than against

I think so too. Gerrard had us beaten every time, even if it was close. Glad he’s ****ed off.

Was he the one handing the cheques over to the Referees?

He will be lauded among the Orcs for stopping ten in a row but the grand sum of his achievements at Ibrox was one league title played out entirely in front of empty stadia. Big wows.

I don’t think they’ll rush into hasty appointment. We I’d like to think that we might benefit from their ‘crisis’ as, for most Huns, this came as a wee bit of a shock. On the other hand, in the absence of a permanent replacement, I think they’re more likely to be galvanised into a difficult outfit to beat.

On the flip side, his achievements in Europe did a lot more for them financially. That has played a big part in their being in much less **** than they could have been.

    I would love that.

I’ve asked on the PM board but is it strange that he’s not been quoted for it really?

On paper he’s done a decent job at Hibs. Finished 3rd last season, good cup runs and now has European experience. I’d hoped he would be one of the front runners for it in all honesty.

Is it just our slow start this season that has taken him out the running for the job?

Where were we in the league when the Huns pinched McLeish from us?
