    Hibs vs Hearts Legends

    https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/hearts-and-hibs-legends-play-match-to-mark-world-mental-health-day-in-pictures-3413910

The two teams – captained by John Hughes and Gary Locke – were competing to raise vital funds and awareness to support local people in taking care of their mental health. The game, which took place in front of a good crowd at Ainslie Park, ended 6-1 to Hibs.

    Anyone go?

What’s with the all-green Umbro shirts?

I like them, but where did they come from? Looks like a Werder Bremen kit.

Probably teamwear shirts customised with badge/sponsor for this game.

I would also have been gutted if I turned up to watch this. Hardly a team full of legends. Most of the guys there are from ffit fans programme.

As far as I’ve seen it was never billed as a ‘team full of legends’ - it was a charity game which involved some legends on both sides.

Agree. But would have still been disappointing watching legends alongside guys who can hardly kick a ball.

But charity was the winner 🏆

Asking players to get involved with only a few days notice wasn’t the best.

Was this legends or ffit fans. Sounds like they couldn't get enough legends so they had to ask whoever they could. Maybe if this was done again they could auction of the places & make more money that way.

Be fair - it was good of Gary Locke to turn out.

I know of Derek & Gaz and two others, I know it was impossible for Derek to attend but asking with only a few days to go was a stretch for some maybe.

That's a shame . Loads would love to see them play again. Maybe next time . Glad it was a success though

Some of the players who’d taken part were made up of those who’d been involved in the changing room, a project to help men tackle mental health through football. The fact that the programme has helped hundreds of men to get support and guidance they need is a major achievement. I don’t wish to be pedantic but I know from having taking part in the programme I might not be here today if it wasn’t for the changing room.

Fair play to those who took part, be it former players or fans. And while some of them might not be legends in your eyes, they are in mine
