Favourite players past and present you have seen
Pat Stanton and Alan Gordon were my first footballing heroes . Used to pretend to be them in my garden as a kid..
I always liked watching Ralph Callaghan play in our dark days of late 70s and early 80s
And present day, not our best player, even he would say that but my favourite is Lewis Stevenson ..what a model pro..always reliable and does the absolute best he can. Hard to play against . Can’t ask for much more than that

Past - Franck Sauzee. Effortless class.
Present - Really enjoy watching JDH. Very intelligent player and think he has a big future.
Best player i've ever seen - Paul Gascoigne. Could only sit back and admire him as a youngster against Hibs. Genuine world class.

Hibs players:
John McGinn
Martin Boyle
Derek Riordan
Scott Brown
Russel Latapy
Franck Sauzee
Ryan Porteous ;)
Non Hibs (obviously not a favourite, but a player who I just had to sit back and say ‘Wow’ watching him):
Henrik Larsson - I still have nightmares as a teenager watching that 0-4 game in 2004 at Easter Road. Was unplayable that day.Last edited by BegbieHSC; 05-10-2021 at 09:35 AM.

If I had to pick 3 from what I regarded as the high point I'd go first for Erich Schaedler, Pat Stanton and Jimmy O'Rourke.
I'd then refuse to disagree with any of the above but I loved all the Tornadoes, John McGinn, Rob Jones, Derek Riordan, David Gray and Lewis Stevenson.
Joe Baker was some player but I only seen him second time around.

My Hibs Heroes as a young teenager,1960s,were
Gerry Baker
Eric Stevenson
Willie Hamilton
Pal and me made a banner with Gerry Bees name on it !
My ma made him a cup of tea as well!!
Non Hibs player
Jim Baxter (a hibby) Like Hammy he was a football genius
Fave English player then, although i sang his song at Wembley.
Bobby Moore (Superstar!)
Bobby was also Jimmy O' Rourke's favourite player then too .
Jimmy's hero was Joe Baker
Joe's return to The Holy Ground saw Jimmy play alongside his hero
Dreams come true!! He loved it !Last edited by Mick O'Rourke; 05-10-2021 at 04:48 PM.

Over the years I’ve had many favourite players. For many years it was John McNamee who was the most physical player I remember. In terms of natural unfulfilled genius I go for Willie Hamilton. For club loyalty and affinity with the fans Pat Stanton and the best all round player Frank Sauzee.
As others have said any of the Tornados could qualify too. We may have had more disappointments than successes over the years I’ve watched them but this thread has reminded me of the many happy memories of talented players at Easter Road.

Darren Jackson was my childhood hero till he left And then a year or so along came Latapy.
Would throw Riordan in the mix for past also.
Present would have to be Boyle.
