I didn’t think we were anywhere near excellent. I don’t think you’ll often see us be excellent against them with what they want to turn the game in to.

Take the win, on to the next one. Pretty forgettable game with little quality in it I thought.
And that’s exactly why I think we were excellent. We certainly weren’t free flowing or all out attacking, but we played them at their own game and came away with the 3 points, something we’ve struggled with recently.

    United we stand here....

I didn’t think it was too different to most of the games against them. Might sound a bit daft because we won the game but it took a dodgy refereeing decision to get us a goal, we still struggled to create much.

Not really intending to be overly negative, I think it was a really vital win. On Allan, I thought he was decent enough but we didn’t get the ball to him quickly enough. Everything seemed to have to go back the way via our centre halves before it was allowed to go forward.

I didn't see any problem with his work rate at all - he constantly made himself available but the tight marking and packed defence scunnered the majority of moves.
Folk always seem to slate his work rate. Seems an easy way to criticise him if you ask me. Don't get it at all. Closes down and chases around the pitch as much as anyone else.

It wasn’t pretty but I doubt it ever can be against teams like St Johnstone. But we finally did what we have to do to beat such outfits, namely match them in commitment, organization and discipline.

I wish to hell we had played like that in the LC semi and SC final last season instead of fannying around like a precious little blouses taking the strop because a bunch of thugs wouldn’t let us play football. We might have had some trophies in the cabinet.

I’d rather see football played the Hibs way, but sometimes you just have to do what it takes to win,

Pragmatic and correct approach. St Johnstone at the moment are going through a stage where they have more or less perfected the "kill the game as a spectacle" tactical take. Sometimes you just have a wear them down which is never going to be pretty.

    Definitely a preferable outcome.

St Johnstone do seem to have our number though.

Allan is the class player. I'd say he's needing to shed a pound or two and he'll be even better.

Probably the most minutes he’s played in a week, in a long time

He does. Scotty has never been much of a tackler but his closing down of opponents is often very good.

After his tackle on Rossiter I’ll never criticise his tackling.

I know we missed out on a good player in McGrath but I'm so glad we never sold Allan.

His displays since coming back into the team should be putting a rocket up whoever’s arse agreed to a deal that would’ve allowed him to leave. He’s a phenomenal football player and any manager should be able to recognise that.
But he hasn’t been before recently. Didn’t set the heather alight up in Inverness. Something has changed with Scotty, his work rate and defending are the best they’ve been in years and he’s rightfully claimed his place back in the team. If he’d gone on loan before that I wouldn’t have blinked an eye.

Hope this new Scotty continues as he’s been fantastic as of late.

Did Scott & JR not have a talk after the transfer thing? I'm sure in an interview JR said that he'd given Scott "something to think" about or words to that effect.
