I agree totally. You must watch a different game.
Given how rarely I agree with anything you post I’m happy with that.

    Can't argue with that.

Scott's attitude after deadline day has been nothing short of first class. If anything he was too hyped up last night and could have got himself into trouble. The 45 at the weekend and his contribution last night has reminded me just how good he is. It's probably reminded himself also. Buzzing for him and on this form us as well. Long may it continue.

As has been discussed in the thread, that’s what we have to weigh up in terms of risk. It worked tonight, wouldn’t rule it out again.

Did a fair amount of tracking back in the first half tbf.
Which is why he was subbed so early I assume given he isn’t match fit yet

He's a bit of a hate figure at Tannadice. United fans give him a hard time for leaving them before he'd played much in their first team. I think he enjoys getting it up them.

Have we ever had a player who plays so many reverse passes? Things of beauty.

Influential second half from Scotty, and vitally he played more minutes than he's managed for well over a year today.

Absolutely love having him back, long may it continue.

St Johnstone TV said he was poor today. Strange.

They wouldn’t know a football player if he bit them on the arse. Watching that dross every week.

After two good performances thought he was poor today. Gave the ball away so often and didn't see the work rate that he showed on Thursday

I didn't see any problem with his work rate at all - he constantly made himself available but the tight marking and packed defence scunnered the majority of moves.

He wasn't any less involved, hard working or any more wasteful in possession than anyone else. St Johnstone smother teams.

Allan was anonymous in the first half and had a good second half because we got him on the ball more often after the break.
Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

He always has energy when we have the ball not so much when we don't. He lost possession far too much today and that partly led to a very poor first half display where we never really got going. Not all down to him of course. Our movement was poor and St Johnstone pressed us well while we stood off them when they had the ball.

We improved second half mostly down to having an extra man and JDH coming on and doing well. All our better performers were defenders today imo and no-one did that well with the ball. It was a dull 0-0 livened up by a penalty that never looked like one to me but I was 80 yards away. Very happy we got the 3points there. We need to grind out results particularly while we have so many injuries and players playing hurt. Jack Ross got it right, our performance levels have dropped and there are plenty mitigating factors. 3 games in a week was too much for Scottie on todays performance and he wasn't alone in that. A week off before playing the The Thes is just what we need

Tbf he wasn’t really a 90 minute player even at his peak.

Great to see him back in a Hibs shirt though.

Thought he was decent today. Found Boyle with a great pass through the middle in the first half and McCart made a great challenge. 2nd half set up Nisbet with another good pass. Not his best performance by any means but still decent IMO.

I wonder if being part of a potential deal for McGrath has had the effect of putting a rocket up his arse? Not his best game today but still put in plenty effort and deserves to be a part of the next squad.

I don't agree that it was a "very poor 1st half display" either though. That's opinions for you.

Thought he was excellent today when he was given the ball - need to feed him a bit quicker at times. He’s proving he can be accommodated. Needs to keep kicking on - it’s great to have him back.

  22. #561
I know it's a cliche but I think sometimes he is a bit ahead of his team mates.

There was a point in the 2nd half when he was showing for the ball down the line and Lewis turned back inside and ended up being closed down and I think we conceded a throw. He was really frustrated as if he had the ball he was in a great position. It was by no means an easy pass and LS didn't do anything horrendously wrong. Allan's frustrated look suggested his thinking was 'I could have made that pass'.

Thought he done well today. Maybe not as big an influence as previous games but he worked hard and showed a few flashes.

Your not wrong, I remember watching Best all those years ago and thought his football brain was on another level to his team mates, Scott maybe not at his level but certainly seems at times way ahead of some of the players around him.

I thought his attempted lob of Clark was sumptuous.

It was. Pleased Scottyis getting time on the park i did worry he would never regularly get 90 minutes again. Flashes of brilliance today as oppose to being outstanding.

We played so poorly and didn’t really supply him or anyone in order to do some damage. Lucky we got the penalty as that game was heading for 0-0. Zero cohesion today. They stifled it to be fair. Delighted to get 3 points but we look rubbish.

Scott Allan will give the ball away more than any other player, as he takes chances and try's to play balls that are difficult.

I thought he was good today.

That’s because it wasn’t a very poor first half display. We were decent in the first half, we dominated the ball and restricted them to speculative long range efforts. Hibs were excellent today against a team we’ve really struggled against.

He remains our most potent threat. Another milestone for him today in putting in 85 mins. As mentioned earlier the saints smother teams but despite him not being as prominent as the last two games he still looked the player most likely. Not to mention nearly scoring with a lovely lob which would have lit up a very dull match.

I didn’t think we were anywhere near excellent. I don’t think you’ll often see us be excellent against them with what they want to turn the game in to.

Take the win, on to the next one. Pretty forgettable game with little quality in it I thought.

His displays since coming back into the team should be putting a rocket up whoever’s arse agreed to a deal that would’ve allowed him to leave. He’s a phenomenal football player and any manager should be able to recognise that.
