There clearly is a very good player there. Has struggled for a couple of years though.
Agreed. I think he'd be a very good signing.

Good. 3 goals last season. Not good enough if we want to progress, even as backup.
100% with you. Horrible scoring record for United last season, lousy for us in his second stint at ER to the extent that he looked fat and unfit (and should have been sent off for his unprofessional stamp on a Hearts player that would have left us playing most of the match with 10 men). Come to think of it, he was pretty lousy during the second half of his first stint with us, after he got his Scotland caps.

Would rather try and broker a deal for Shankland

Was played out of position a lot (again, according to his old man)

True. Was often out wide or in midfield. Looked amongst the best players in the park at ER against us

Would be surprised also given how poor he was the last time.

McNulty was poor tbh.would rather we gave Gullan a chance if that’s the height of our interest.

McNulty is the kind of guy who would start the season on the bench but has more than enough quality to get a run in the team.

Feel like we should be getting someone in who is a bit more reliable from a fitness perspective though.

Wouldn’t be against this, disappointing that he’s not had much time to prove himself up top

There might be a “right time” to get McNulty.

He’s coasted about for a few years picking up his handsome Reading wage to go on loan to clubs where he’s been just a bit short of peak fitness and shown appetite and form in flashes.

That contract is going to come to an end. I reckon you’ll see a leaner, more driven and focussed player when he’s in his last year there and he’s needing to win his next permanent deal.

You want him that year, not the one when he’s back on easy street.

Clearly a good player who has something, but he’s also clearly lacking something too.

It might have been his 2nd spell with us but I remember going to sit down the front of the East one week, and you could see that he and Scott Allan were desperate to link up. He was making cracking wee runs that Allan was trying to pick out all the time. They might be a pretty decent combo (for example, I don’t see Doidge playing this sort of way).

Not saying mcnulty is pish, but we've been there done that.

If we are looking at strikers I’d like to see us go for a bigger striker like Ollie Palmer at afc Wimbledon.someone good at ground game and also in the air.think we need a wee bit more physicality in the box

This 100%, imagine a front pairing of Shankland and Nisbet, this is the ambition I would like to see

I thought he played very well against Hibs in last season's Scottish Cup tie at Palmerston. Was out of position when Doidge ran through the middle to score but otherwise I thought he looked a decent prospect. Worth keeping an eye on.

The sort of signing you would expect Peter Grant to make

St Johnstone, and other unnamed Premiership clubs, interested in Greg Stewart.

Was thinking more Shankland playing in the hole behind Nisbet and Doidge or as an impact Sub offering something different or more importantly a replacement for Nisbet when he goes

I'd take him if Nisbet goes, definitely.

I get your logic, but it's a gamble and we'd still be paying part of his considerable wages. Not worth the risk IMO.

McNulty has got plenty of talent but he doesn’t seem a player that Jack would want in his squad.

A guy who only puts the effort in when he’s looking for a new contract is not really what you want.

Daily Record reporting talks for getting Mueller in early have “stepped up”. We’ve got to negotiate with the MLS as opposed to Orlando City.

I read the tweet that linked to that story and I’ve read the headline. I’m struggling to make sense of it though.

Am I going mad or does it not read right? Is there a missing comma or full stop or something?
