Grealish is younger than Mcginn, how did you work out he is at his peak and McGinn isn't?

Sorry but you need to take the Hibs specs off. Pep is a football manager, one of the best, and he isn't after McGinn for 100 million.
I wouldn’t necessarily agree with the post but players do peak at different points.

Rooney peaked in his late teens early twenties. He was past his best by the time other guys his age peaked.

I’m not sure Grealish would improve that much at Man City but I do think he’s slightly better than McGinn right now. I think McGinn could go up a level at Liverpool though.

I'd put Grealish in the vastly over rated English player category and not seen anything to suggest he's better than McGinn but I'm not a professional football manager so my opinion doesn't count for much.
All our opinions count mate its what message boads are all about but on the McGinn Grealish debate I think if you asked Aston Villa fans who have obviously seen them both tgether for a few seasons now who was the better player it would be a Grealish landslide.

Which is better? A prancing Olympic dressage horse or a Cheltenham Gold Cup steeplechaser?

Probably true but it doesn't have to be either/or. Is Grealish 2 or 3 times the player SJM is? If rumours of £100m for Grealish are true then £40m is a minimum for SJM. That's nothing to do with green tinted glasses, just my assessment of the EPL market.

Indeed. The market will pay whatever it thinks is right.

Brexit does make a difference by putting an even bigger premium on homegrown players too.

It doesnt alter the fact that the vast majority of Villa fans would rate Grealish higher then SJM, which is all I stated.

I guess that could be a very tasty contract to keep him there after his performances in the Euro’s which won’t have gone unnoticed.

Wonder if there is a buy out clause?

Sky Sports not elaborated on any detail. He deserves it IMO with Saka, Arsenals best players last season.

I don’t fully understand buy out clauses. Does it set a minimum or maximum transfer fee in the future or something?

Minimum transfer fee and any team meeting it can then sign the player if agree terms.

They are a legal requirement for contracts in Spain. So clubs will try and set some ludicrous fee. A bit like a builder quoting a massively overinflated price for a job because he doesn’t really want the work.

John McGinn isn't one of a kind. We've had the priviledge of seeing him up close for 3 brilliant years and I think it has blinded some to his shortcomings, or seen him a bit overrated by others.

He is a very good player. He isn't a world class central midfielder, though. There are better players than him out there for less money yes. All different types as well. More defensive players like Yves Bissouma, more attacking ones like Houssem Aouar who are both likely to move to a big club this summer for less than 30 million. Both are younger with a higher ceiling than McGinn IMO.

I love McGinn, but I cant see him moving for 50 million quid.
The thing about McGinn is that he is British and has played in the Premiership. If they were to sign a player from abroad they might not settle in England or be up to the pace of the premiership. In short they know what they are getting. Surely that is worth a premium?

Don't know the players you are referring to as I don't pay attention to players for teams outside Hibs.

I think he’d already attracted interest. If he hadn’t been injured so much this season Arsenal might not have been able to hold onto him.

Maximum transfer fee really as why would anyone offer more?

Was never any suggestion he was leaving. Played nearly 40 games. Very little to do with any injury. Arsenal see him as a future captain and he had years on his contract anyway. New deal was sorted with zero fuss.

Then they both get accepted and they negotiate with the player.

There’s no need for anyone to pay any more than a minimum release fee.

Regan Hendry says Hibs were one of the clubs interested in signing him without doing anything about it. Not really sure what that means?

I’m not losing masses of sleep over that one, if he comes good we can buy him off FGR.

I’m sure that’s the case with dozens of players.

Seen a few Turkish sites on Twitter stating Besiktas are in talks to sign Porteous, most of them have very few followers however it seems to stem from the tweet above from an account that has over 84,000 followers which would give the page a degree of credibility.

I’m sure there’s plenty ***** Twitter accounts with loads of followers however I normally dismiss any pages that only have a few followers. Maybe one to keep an eye on.
