Celtic would probably offer Leigh a deal then offer him for Nisbet thinking we would swap.

In all seriousness if we are looking at selling players let’s do it early and the club looks to be doing this.

Ex Hibs player signs for QOTS for undisclosed fee , obviously minimal.

Two is the number. Second signing of the day on a TWO year deal is Ruari Paton. Welcome to Palmerston. > https://t.co/Z88LJfCrI2 https://t.co/1JSRFfs7Mg
That’s a great move for Ruari

I hope we sign someone soon - anything to stop us going on and on about Leigh Griffiths. Personally i think we will see 2 out and 2 in next week.

    I hope so too.

We moved sharply to get Daniel MacKay in but I get greedy and want more in.

Players back on Monday so hopefully arrivals are imminent, one of my pet hates is players not getting a full pre season. It has cost us quite a lot in recent seasons and hopefully when we do make signings they will have started pre season with their current clubs.

I hope you're right with your prediction / info.

I find that incredible, no way is he returning to Scottish football with an offer like that on the table.

Can't help thinking they could get better value than that with plenty of players.

Presumably that will be getting paid in Canadian dollars so 43 K = 43,000 Canadian Dollar = £25,128

I’m assuming that whoever wrote the article has done that already. It was quoted in £s.

Man City close to signing Grealish for close to £100 million.

Can't see them letting Grealish and McGinn go in the same window.

Was in BBC Gossip this morning that they won't consider offers for McGinn this summer. They also touted the Liverpool interest again in the article.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

If they get him and Kane, may as well just hand the league to City before a ball is kicked. Financial fair play my arse.

If people think Villa couldn’t get £50m for Mcginn when they’re getting £100m for Grealish they’re away wi it.

I must be unlucky as lots of people rate him but whenever I’ve seen him, admittedly not very often, he’s either been anonymous or not stood out. I can’t help but file him alongside Declan Rice, good but not as good as the hype or values talked about for both.

Saying that, it is genuinely possible he’s had off days whenever I’ve seen him and Pep will take him up another lever or two like he does with most players.

Younger, English, better player, long contract, highly sought after. No one is away with anything. Grealish is the subject of serious interest at 100m. The one rumour about Mcginn says Liverpool will not pay 50 million.

There are not many better players than grealish about for 100m. There are better players than Mcginn for 50

Might be better players technically but will they give you what McGinn gives you? I’d be surprised.

Not to mention marketability, which is a key driver of valuations at the top level.

Hair products companies will be more interested in Grealish than Meatball, for one thing.

Obviously they are very different players.

Grealish is a proper baller. In fact him and Foden are both the kind of instinctive, creative players that many folk thought had become pretty much extinct in Britain.

England would be lucky to have one of them - having both is an embarrassment of riches in many ways, and may actually prevent them from building a team around one or the other.

John McGinn isn't one of a kind. We've had the priviledge of seeing him up close for 3 brilliant years and I think it has blinded some to his shortcomings, or seen him a bit overrated by others.

He is a very good player. He isn't a world class central midfielder, though. There are better players than him out there for less money yes. All different types as well. More defensive players like Yves Bissouma, more attacking ones like Houssem Aouar who are both likely to move to a big club this summer for less than 30 million. Both are younger with a higher ceiling than McGinn IMO.

I love McGinn, but I cant see him moving for 50 million quid.

  21. #2960
As it stands, Man City have apparently offered Villa the same amount of money for Grealish as they have offered for McGinn, which appears to be £0.

Think City's main target this summer is for a center forward with Kane or Haaland top of the shopping list, which wont be cheap. Cant see them forking out what will be, what? £250 Million? for a striker and Grealish. Bl00dy crazy money, it only seems like two minutes ago the media melee over Trevor Francis moving for a million.

Surely the ability to make McGinn look like a matinee idol would be the ultimate selling point for a hair product?

No doubt that Jack Grealish has more natural football ability than John McGinn. But we are not comparing like with like.
When they were both at Hibs thought Liam Henderson had more natural football ability than McGinn, but he didn’t have McGinns assertiveness, determination and will to win.Just look at where the level of both their careers are at the moment.
If I was a football manager and my board said we will fund you for any player at Aston Villa you want,I would take McGinn before Grealish.
Think with Grealish he has now reached his peak but in the longer term there is a lot more to come from McGinn and would consider him more dependable and a better asset going forward.

They'll be moving guys on as well. Aguero, Fernandinho and Eric Garcia already away and Laporte rumoured to want to leave. I think Gabriel Jesus may want away as well. Thats a huge chunk of wages off the bill.

Agree entirely with this Grealish is an exciting player to watch but McGinn is a better all round player, not much in it though.

Grealish is younger than Mcginn, how did you work out he is at his peak and McGinn isn't?

Sorry but you need to take the Hibs specs off. Pep is a football manager, one of the best, and he isn't after McGinn for 100 million.

That must be some pretty strong stuff you're on there mate.

  30. #2969
I'd put Grealish in the vastly over rated English player category and not seen anything to suggest he's better than McGinn but I'm not a professional football manager so my opinion doesn't count for much.

Aye but what about all the house haunting companies who could market meatball?
