Sounds like more of a reason to sign him up, to be honest. Bring him back home, make him feel welcome, make him feel wanted, let him play out the rest of his career at the club he loves.
At least, that's my plan for retirement. Don't know about you guys...

Totally agree but is a one year deal of 8k with Celtc better than 4K a week 3 year contract with another club?
Depends if he backs himself to earn another extension for the following year. If he’s still as good as everyone says he his then he should feel confident in doing so.

Day 20 of checking for transfer speculation, nope, maybe tomorrow something will pop up.

Cheers. I've heard of Google but the answers aren't available there, which is why I was hoping anyone who has mentioned the issues and hassle might be able to explain.
Well documented mental health issues, which kept him out of the game for sometime. Fitness issues, possibly could be linked to his mental health.
I still believe a Leigh, back in his home club, surrounded by a great support team and adored by the fans will have two or three good seasons in him. Could be positive for all concerned.

  6. #2345
Leigh's a quality player and would be a great signing. But its totally dependent on other factors - how much would it cost and might the money spent on Leigh prevent us from possibly pushing the boat out on procuring a very promising younger potential from elsewhere and/or re signing Jackson Irvine among other things. If Leigh was affordable without threatening the budget then it would be a very very good move to bring Leigh home.

I think Leigh's issues have been pretty well documented in newspapers, social media, etc. Suprised it's news to anyone.

  8. #2347
I mentioned I'd been asking about current issues but there's still not been any explanation of those. Does that mean there are none? I'd have thought how unfit someone was for a while a year or so ago is unlikely to be of much concern. He's been fit and available to play for almost the whole season now. I was just interested to know if there was actually some reason why a club wouldn't want to sign him now, what hassle he would cause etc.

This is purely reading between the lines and having some experience of mental health issues. Often these things don’t simply go away. So perhaps there are still days where it’s tough to get motivated. Difficult to train.
Maybe not communicative around the place….who knows.
I think his fitness remained in question throughout last season. Hence not being selected by Mr Clark for the Euros squad.
It’s a tough situation and I hope he’s able to move on this season and return to being the gifted striker he is on a consistent basis (preferably for the Hibees).

Saw Marcianos name crop up on another thread. Has he got a new club yet?

  12. #2351
25 year old Scottish centre half Liam Lindsay has signed for Preston on a 2 year contract for an undisclosed fee from Stoke City.
His 3rd English team since moving down from Partick Thistle.
He was one a few of us thought could be a good fit for Hibs.
Will he join us in 2 years time? Probably not.

This is a decent idea given the paucity of real transfer rumours – get the speculation going on the summer 2023 transfer window.

I wonder what frame of mind he'll be in after being left out of the Euros.

Was there even any rumours about interested clubs like there is/has been for Doig, Porteous, Nisbet?

If he did ( fingers crossed 🤞) end up back at Hibs , IMO I think he’d be pretty motivated to do good , he never got a consistent run of games all season, if he had had as much minutes as eduard on the park he would have had as much goals , I don’t think him playing more minutes this past season would have made Celtic any weaker put it that way 😂 he could be our game changer against the uglys as well if we are ever lucky enough to bring him home!👌💚

Looks like the Griffiths saga might drag on for a while yet. The new guy has to quarantine for 10 days when he arrives from Japan. He won’t be at Parkhead for the start of pre-season.

My Celtic pal at work said something about Leigh's brother posting on social media that he had been released.

Not sure if this is old news, but I also seen that Hendry had been liking some Hibs fans' tweets asking him to join. Not sure how credible that is of an indication though!

I agree with you I think he will be extremely motivated to get back in a Scotland squad with the world cup next year

Neither will Griffiths, he doesn't play for them anymore, seemingly been seen keeping fit with a PT.

Correct about the PT but I read that he’s doing that to be in decent shape to impress the new guy and possibly get a new contract. He might not be officially on their books but his first priority is to return there.
An interesting post on KS yesterday.

I don't think his contract is 'up'
He got a 4 year deal with us having the option to cut the last year (now) , and given that most contracts finish on the 10th of June, I would guess that if they don't put out a 'thank you leigh' video tomorrow...... it would suggest he's staying . Not fact, just my thoughts

If he is desperate to stay with Celtic then I don't particularly want him here.
Childish maybe but there you go.

Not childish in the slightest. Want players who want to play for us, supporter or not. Not some player who just wants a wage

Perfectly normal thing to do frankly, stay where you get paid the most so I don't see what the problem is.

If your wage was £10K and was gonna drop to £3K would you not be desperate to stay?
