Absolutely. I'm admittedly pessimistic about our chances of signing either, although Kerr could be a possibility should we lose Porteous. Campbell is almost certainly destined for the Championship, or maybe even the MLS.
2 great signings if we can get them.

Magennis has only played left mid because we’ve had a severe lack of them and he’s been coming back from injury and lacking confidence.

By all accounts the players think he’s a bit of a tank and his best football was played centrally and going by Ross’ description that’s where he will play.

A good pre season and staying free of injury and he’ll show he’s a good signing
What do they mean he's a "tank"?

Strong and muscular, does a fair bit in the gym seemingly.

If you look at the way John McGinn is built, similar.

Sunderland release list, don't know much about them or if many/any played under Jack Ross.

✍️ Sunderland have confirmed the following players have been released:

    Callum McFadzean
    Chris Maguire
    Conor McLaughlin
    Grant Leadbitter
    Josh Scowen
    Max Power
    Remi Matthews

Josh Scowen was very highly thought of at one point. Sure Hecky loved him

Just very good in the gym. Very strong boy who also doesn’t mind putting himself out.

He just needs to get used to playing in games again after so long out. Getting a proper feel for it again in pre season will pay dividends.

Him, Irvine and Allan as the middle 3....should have everything.

Until he proves himself though and shows exactly the quality he has though he’ll struggle to displace Gogic, who imo has been a fantastic signing and much better than I ever imagined - his last ditch tackle in the final epitomised how he has been this season.

A couple of players I’d like to see us go for in various different capacities. Some would be bursting the bank, some competition, some good squad depth - something we lacked during the latter stages of the season.

    Goalkeeper

    Liam Kelly - QPR - 2023
    Robbie McCrorie - Rangers - 2023
    Scott Bain - Celtic - 2023

    Defenders

    Jason Kerr - St Johnstone - 2022
    Jamie McCart - St Johnstone - 2022
    Liam Lindsay - Stoke - 2022
    Ciaron Brown - Cardiff - 2021
    Greg Taylor - Celtic - 2023

    Midfielders

    Lewis Wing - Middlesbrough - 2021
Harry Paton - Ross County -2021
    Alan Campbell - Motherwell - 2021
Jake Doyle Hayes - St Mirren - 2021
    Jamie McGrath - St Mirren - 2022
    Cammy McPherson - St Mirren - 2022
    Jeando Fuchs - Dundee United - 2022
    Regan Hendry - Raith Rovers - 2021
    Roddy McGregor - ICT - 2022
    Max Power - Sunderland - 2021
    Luka Connell - Celtic - 2023
    Jordan Jones - Rangers - 2023

    Strikers

    Greg Stewart - Rangers -2021
    Devante Cole - Motherwell - 2021
    Laurence Shankland - Dundee United - 2022
    Leigh Griffiths - Celtic - 2021
    Louis Moult - Preston - 2021
    Chris Maguire - Sunderland - 2021
    Zak Rudden - Partick - 2022
    Glen Middleton - Rangers - 2023

Some would cost a fee, some wouldn’t.

Some would be able to command a much higher wage/be out of our price range, some wouldn’t.

Glenn Middleton is one I had high hopes for when we first got him but I think Heckingbottom killed him a bit. Done really well for St Johnstone though and gave us a tough time. Doubt either party would fancy a return though.

There will definitely be a lot of incomings and outgoings this summer when you think the following, albeit not all of them, could realistically be away

Ofir Marciano - Out of contract
Tom James - Out of favour/ wants more first team football
David Gray - Out of favour/wants more first team football
Ryan Porteous - Interest from other teams
Sean Mackie - injuries? Looks good when he plays but is he reliable?
Josh Doig - Interest from other clubs
Drey Wright - Not been a great signing, time to move on?
Melker Hallberg - Out of favour/ wants more first team football
Stephen McGinn - Out of contract
Stevie Mallan - Out of favour/ wants more first team football
Fraser Murray - Out of favour/ wants more first team football
Jackson Irvine - Out of contract
Jamie Gullan - Out of favour/ wants more first team football
Martin Boyle - Interest from other clubs
Kevin Nisbet - Interest from other clubs

Clearly not all of them will leave. But my point is you could make a point/understand - why any of them might not be here next season.

He's 32 now and I've no idea how he did this season, but I've always liked Chris Maguire.
I would be surprised if we weren't interested in Maguire especially given he has already worked with Jack. Always had something about him. Can remember being at the u21 game at ER when he scored from the kick off.

A fee will be agreed between the clubs. If a fee can't be agreed then it would go to a tribunal who would decide what we got.

Going forward, we would be due small percentages every time he moves clubs for a fee.

I'd expect Hibs would agree a fee and a sell on clause, though, to maximise income rather than put it in the hands of a tribunal with little sell on value.

Would a tribunal be involved with someone who has signed a pro contract and is still under contract? Not sure how these things work.

    Wouldnt imagine so.
It will just be a transfer fee and sell on to Hibs.

See Josh Campbell was tearing it up for Edinburgh City. 10 goals and 4 assists in 30 games from midfield.

His problem seemed to be a lack of composure when he broke through, I wonder if a successful loan spell could be enough to give him the confidence to push on.

Tribunal isn’t the case as he’s under contract they would have to buy him. Tribunal only comes into play if clubs can’t agree on the development fee / compensation for an out of contract player whom the club offer a new deal on the same or improved terms as the original contract

Think with Maguire is on his day he can be unplayable but it's only 1 game in six that he turns up. Spectacular goals are his trademark at Sunderland but fear his best days are well behind him, we should be looking for far better players than him who will be looking for a last payday.
