I wonder what Douglas Ross is saying about potential breaches of ministerial code....

    Strangely quiet on this one

Just reading that Gove's wife said Johnson had been forced to get rid of Theresa May's furniture from John Lewis as the PM couldn't be expected to live "in a skip".

He'll be leaving comment to Bozo's pal Murray Ross as he knows him better.

Tories struggling to read the room again.

I've been watching some of the reports on ITV on the housing stock some families are expected to live in. It's horrendous. Some of the flats are not habitable.

The best thing about this whole story is it reveals the truth that Class really matters. Even though we are constantly told it doesn’t.

Lots of voters, and almost all Tory voters, are middle class or define themselves as middle class. Most middle and lower middle class voters aspire to having John Lewis furniture in their house, because that’s what upper middle class people have in their houses. The fact that Boris and the rest of them consider John Lewis furniture as beneath them, like living ‘in with stuff that came out of a skip, shouldn’t be surprising, because they are Upper Class. An upper class person would rather have an old piece of furniture with holes in it than John Lewis furniture. And all this is important because it breaks the fantasy that Boris is ‘One of Us’, to a particular breed of mostly English voters. He just isn’t. He’s in the top 0.25% or thereabouts.

Classic. Personalise the story. Make it about an ‘extravagant wife’. Give a wee kick to the ex wife fleecing him for extra misogyny points. Encourage your reader to empathise with Boris, even as he gets taken down. ‘My wife’s the same, she always spends too much’. Don’t ask the big questions.

I ****ing hate the Daily Mail.

The members might not want him though. Sunak is very popular and might sneak it.

Sunak is going to have to claw back a lot of money to balance the books post covid. Not sure how popular he’ll be when the tax rises and cuts get announced. Maybe a move away from chancellor is the best thing for him personally.

    One of his girlfriends.

Surprised he's not had the fragrant Jennifer bumped off yet.

In reality the Arcuri stories show that he's pretty shameless so is more likely to just brass this latest distraction out. Better than talking about snouts in troughs and avoidable Covid deaths on his watch.

An astonishing post on the readers comments underneath:

[QUOTE] Here's the problem. Boris is rich, but he's not Trump rich. Trump could afford to marry a high-maintenance model young enough to be his daughter. Melanie could use hundred dollar bills to wipe her bum, and Trump wouldn't notice the difference in his bank balance. But when you're just regular rich, and you have two ex-wives and at least six children (who of course all have to go to expensive private schools), you have to choose a slightly less profligate girlfriend - one who maybe just uses ten dollar bills to wipe her bum.[\QUOTE]

Agreed. I can't think about it too much in that context as it turns my stomach.

I am enjoying reference to "cash for curtains" though. It's ironic considering he won't be drawn on it.

I saw his personal life compared to that of Idi Amin. There are other similarities as well.

The existing suppliers and manufacturers must be livid, some were put on the ignore list by whoever was making the decisions to award the contracts as they did.

Lord Deighton, PPE "Tsar" and all round Tory seems to have been practical alternative to any form of tendering or indeed any meaningful scrutiny of who got what.

Surely to be eligible to be PM you have to be financially stable? If BJ’s are in such a mess then what else is getting slipped in to his pocket for a favour here and there?

What makes him a "religious nutter"? Or do you just mean he's a nutter who happens to be religious?
