BBC reporting Johnson did make a "bodies could pile high" comment in relation to resisting another lockdown.

Although he's still denying it, the context is unclear and he's a Teflon-coated gaffe-aholic, I think this could be the beginning of the end for him. Even the Tories can't go into an election led by someone who is such an easy opposition target.
Don't doubt you're right. I expect there'll be an extended period where none of the contenders actually want to be the backstabber-in-chief but it's inevitable.

However, what's really flabbergasting me today is - wtf do you actually get for spending well over £100K on decorating a flat?

That poll is scary. A bunch incompetent, sleazy, elitists who **** up everything they touch and they're still miles ahead in the opinion polls

Scottish independence is not just a preference, it's a necessity now.
They don't **** everything up. They line their pockets and those of their friends very efficiently.

I've been wondering today, if any of those who were still going to vote tory despite losing a loved one to Covid have now changed their minds after the "pile the bodies up" comment.

No, because the parallel universe where Jeremy Corbyn is Prime Minister would somehow be worse.

That's the kind of mental gymnastics we're dealing with here.

Sadly I agree. What a mess of a country.

As with all things Bozo, give it up to 7 days for what he says, promises or predicts to turn out to be the opposite or to swiftly require the opposite of his statement to happen.

Particularly when you have a taxpayer funded budget of £30,000 per year!!

The irony of a Scot being the last Prime Minister of the UK would be pretty funny.
As a Scot it will also be difficult for him to be seen to be pandering to the Scots should the No campaign start offering goodies in an attempt to save the union, that would send Gammons south of the border into a rabid frenzy.

He doesn't give a flying one about Scotland or being Scottish.

Imagine being a real Scot and deriving any pride in being associated with this creature. Denying him a Scottish passport could be a real independence vote winner.

Looks like the Tory press are lining up Michael 'Goebbels' Gove as the next f***wit to ***** on us from a great height then.

his biographer thinks it makes Johnson a down to earth guy

i read the snivelling brown-nosed coward Murray Ross is also backing Johnson, if Johnson wanted to obliterate everyone in Scotland Dross would still back him, it's quite nauseating knowing that people in this country vote for the nasty party

The thing that makes the allegation so believable is that it is how Johnson speaks, but it's the complete opposite of how the average "man in the pub" speaks in most parts of the country.

There were people on here arguing Johnson's point that collateral damage was acceptable to avoid the negative economic consequences of lockdown. However, they made that argument with at least a degree of empathy.

"Let the bodies pile high" would be just his style of hyperbolic, faux grandiose, Shakespearean tragedy meets Nero waffle.

It's amusing watching those who were last year assuring us that Dominic Cummings was a bastion of integrity now denouncing him as a liar.

To be fair, BBC and ITV have had the quote corroborated.

This is a Gove/Cummings revenge take down, sponsored by the Daily Mail. It’s not going to change anything, possibly to make the Tories even more extreme, and to give the false impression that the media is doing anything else but faithfully serving its masters.

If successful, won't it make a difference that Gove, replacing Johnson, doesn't have the same 'popular appeal' as him?

Will he have the same NO to indyref commitment as Johnson?

Probably more commitment, but little in the way of Johnson's charisma and boyish charm to carry the country with him.

I can’t see it, but who the **** knows anymore really? I thought it was inconceivable that large swathes of working class England could support Boris but they seem to be.

It’s depressing that of all the genuinely corrupt behaviour that’s been going on and has been obvious to anyone who pays attention, it’s basically hearsay about Boris being a rude loudmouth that’s the mud that sticks. Everyone knew he was that. But take him down for that, and only that, and the wider group of shysters stays intact.

It's very clear. No matter who you vote for in Westminster, you're getting Cummings. Useless opposition, media with as many Tories in charge as possible and disposable PMs and cabinets.
