    World Snooker Championships 2021

First round of qualifying kicks off today - Hendry v White. I know neither have a chance but still interesting to see these guys slug it out.

    Live on Eurosport at 7.30pm
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!"

That’s a shame it’s clashing with our game as I would have enjoyed watching them!

It's not on the Eurosport TV channel, it's only being shown through their website and app which I believe you need to pay for.

That will explain why I couldn’t find it in the planner to record!

No surprise. He admitted himself he wasn't ready.

I bet the guy who laid the snooker was feeling pretty happy about it until he did that.

    United we stand here....

Apparently his opponent still won but I'd have probably given up after that!

Been like that a good few weeks now at least - I know it’s really petty, but it makes me want him to get beat when I see him now :)

Nice to see Hazel back running things. Why did she leave in the first place?

    "Personal reasons" apparently.

Some comeback by O'Sullivan here but McGill has just gone to pieces.

Is the new commentator on the BBC Jack Lisowski? Bit random. He’s inoffensive but a bit dull and doesn’t offer much insight IMO. I like mixing it up with current players commentating, Sean Murphy is usually quite good, but surely get top end players with more experience than Jack Lisowski.

Yes he started commentating and being a pundit after he was knocked out.

I agree he sounds a bit awkward.

Great match between Anthony McGill and Stuart Bingham. Bingham just edges through 13-12.

I absolutely adore watching and playing snooker. Just a joy to watch people at the top of their games in a game that comes down to skill and brains.

And the commentary is so soothing. Nothing bad could happen watching a snooker game.

I agree with all of this, and would add that the sound of the cue hitting the cue ball, then the target ball, is also a very relaxing sound

i also love the generally classy way it’s played. Players call fouls on themselves, they make sure the ball is replaced exactly where it should be rather than trying to gain an unfair advantage, they acknowledge good play from their opponent, the way previous players are so praising and gracious about current players

Agree, I really admire that side of snooker and hope it never changes.

Skill & brains, is that not the same for most sports.

Referee counts your score, when playing an opponent with no ref they count the score.

I would say more skill than brains.

Bingham's gone into the same end-game mode he did when he beat McGill. Also loving the safety play - who needs 100 breaks every frame? :-)
