That piece is much better, but the James Cook tweet shows that some seem hell bent to put a negative slant on things if at all possible. He shouldn't even have mentioned doctors. It's like saying Hearts didn't advance in the cup on Wednesday night but neither did Hibs - factually correct but with a false implication.
I take the broad point but in general the press have been generous to the SNP on this, look at this in the Tory lovingStandard...they’re winning the optics.

I see Ross the Linesman is refusing to pack in his Westminster role for his part-time MSP work at Holyrood.

Interestingly, he previously resigned as an MSP when he was elected to Westminster.

A few others, including Salmond, have combined the roles before but my personal opinion is that the rules should be changed to prevent this happening.

He’ll be keeping the linesman gig as well. Probably got the wife on the payroll. Loaded.

I agree, constituents aren't getting a good deal if their elected representative is splitting their time over multiple roles. I thought the rules had changed and that's why J.Cherry couldn't stand as an MSP? Obvs I misunderstood, what was the reason she was not allowed to carry out both roles?

The SNP has changed its policy to not allow dual MP/MSPs. The controversy over JC was she wasn't allowed to stand for Holyrood and resign from WM if she won, she would have been forced to resign her WM seat up front. But that rule is all internal to the SNP and the Cherry/Salmondites alleged it was introduced solely to spike her guns.

Aah understood, thanks for explaining. I agree with that policy. Should apply to all Party's. Take it, it was introduced recently if some were forming this conclusion?

MPs demand probe into Boris Johnson 'breach of ministerial code' over Covid contracts - Mirror Online

It comes after the Prime Minister was asked about unpublished Covid-19 contracts in the House of Commons, to which he replied: "All the details are on the record”.
Asked a second time during the same debate, Mr Johnson repeated the claim, saying: "The contracts are there on the record for everybody to see.”
This was untrue. The PM has yet to correct the record.
A letter sent to the Good Law project by Government lawyers on February 25 - after the PM claimed the contracts had been published - confirmed around 100 contracts had not been published at the time.

Looks like it’s been a stroke of luck for her anyway as she wouldn’t have been able to campaign anyway if she is poorly.

This Tory government are corrupt to the core, yet Labour are willing to let them get away with it.

Is Dross standing for a constituency or just relying on the list vote. I think I heard he was too scared to stand in a constituency.

I know nowt about the bloke sorry. Has Patrick Harvie ever won a constituency seat, someone told me he's been a list MSP for 17 years but I can't see anything on google confirming that?

Interesting question, it was discussed a while back and I remember thinking it was a good idea that list MSPs should only be allowed to serve for a set maximum number of terms, if that's true about Patrick Harvie then we could conceivably loose one of our better MSPs. Something to think about I guess.

I have no problem with list MSP’s. They are no less MSP’s than constituency ones. It’s just because we are so used to first past the post that people seem to think of them as second class.

I'm with you. We should remember that list members have a much larger area to represent. That can mean that they are just as busy as the constituency reps. Margo, for one, was one of the busiest members in the Parliament.

Maybe the Nasty party's problem is that they will not be able to decline to feed hungry children next time around if this sort of legislation passes?

I have no problem with List MSPs either but as a leader of one of the main parties I would expect them to stand in a FPTP seat and put themselves number one on the list. I presume the Tories will contest plenty of constituencies it seems crazy that their leader won't commit to fighting any of them. Patrick Harvie stood in Glasgow Kelvin at the last election so has put put his money where his mouth is although it took a few years. That is expected as the Greens are still a very small party and needed time to establish themselves. The Tories don't have that excuse. Ross isn't exactly exuding Leadership by failing to stand in a FPTP imo
