I know but England changed that almost 5 months ago, I was just meaning that they've not been recording 1000 deaths per day for the last couple of weeks. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

The only thing I can think of is the UCL covid app has about 730k cases predicted whereas at the first peak I'm sure they reckoned 2 million plus (i might be wrong as I've drunk a fairly impressive amount of beer since then)

I believe the rest of the UK was always using the 28 days measurement but I might be wrong.

Just been speaking to a supplier from down South that I use at work.
Told me his wife has just started work on a contract with English Track and Trace System.

Today marks my last day of isolation. I haven’t cuddled my daughter since last Thursday. I’m bursting with excitement.
One thing this period has taught me is to never take anything for granted ever again that’s for sure."Play for the name on the front of the jersey and the supporters will remember the name on the back"

Following a change in government policy 2nd doses of covid 19 vaccine will now be given 12 weeks after the first instead of 4 weeks. Please do not attend for your 2nd dose appointment. You do not need to take any further action. NHS Lothian will contact you with arrangements for your new appointment. This is how it feels

New variant will be "less easy to control through lockdown" and stopping the situation from getting any worse rather than seeing a drop in cases would be a good outcome according to Professor Mark Woolhouse.
Some scope for relaxing restrictions over the next few months but no-one should anticipate a full return to normality "for really quite some time."

There's nothing we can do if this is Gov policy going forward, I don't think it's ethical, denying someone a 2nd jab who has had there first and was advised at the time of the first vaccine they would receive their booster in 12 weeks.

I would argue the key thing is to make sure no one goes through any unnecessary hardship by having to isolate. As we hopefully move beyond the stage where millions of people are on furlough I would suggest a government scheme that sees anyone isolating guaranteed their full (or a figure of at least 75%) pay for the duration. I know there are various grants or whatever currently but a simplified system whereby if you log a positive test then you get paid. We are asking people to avoid working and other human contact for a sustained period for an illness that for many may be mild enough that they feel capable of working. There is of course a societal responsibility to do the right thing but equally society has a responsibility to ensure people are adequately looked after for doing so. Do that and people have no excuse fr failing to do what is asked of them.
If numbers get back to a manageable level in Europe again and the tracking and containment systems fail again then it becomes negligence. The first time was almost understandable as we were faced with something new and largely unexpected, the 2nd time was harder to explain, a 3rd is bordering on unforgivable.PM Awards General Poster of The Year 2015, 2016, 2017.
