The claims about Trump calling the war dead 'losers' would have more weight if they weren't anonymous.
I'm in no way saying that he didn't say it, but I'm not sure I feel comfortable taking something as serious as this at face value, with no evidence and no one willing to come out publicly and say they heard him say it.
There's enough stupid things that he definitely did say that we can judge him on already.

The only reports I've seen so far have been attributed to 'anonymous' sources.
If they've been reported differently anywhere, I must have missed it but would be happy to be provided with a source, or the names of the people (not a dig at anyone, i promise :-) )

As I've already written, while these sources remain anonymous or no evidence is provided to prove it, I'm going to go with the 'innocent until proven guilty' approach.
This is all too similar to the 'Jeremy Corbyn Is An Anti-Semite' stuff we've witnessed in the media for months, and I found that very disturbing.
The Guardian, for instance, seem to have an editorial policy of including the phrase 'anti-semitism' in every single article that mentions Corbyn's name and were determined to smear him at every opportunity.
And just for removal of any doubt, I have no fondness whatsoever for Trump or Corbyn.Last edited by Keith_M; 05-09-2020 at 11:15 AM.

First off, they made a damn good effort to annihilate the Native American population.
They then claimed to be a country open to everyone looking for a new life... until the Irish, Jews or anyone else that didn't meet the criteria arrived on their shores.
Then large swathes of the country tried to ensure that public transportation, workplaces, restaurants, sports clubs... even the military... kept the inferior Black people well away from the obviously superior Whites.
They've since built up amazing scare stories about Mexicans and others of a Hispanic background, and have recently added Muslims as the 'bogey man'
Let's face it, extreme prejudice is what made America great!

Even though they are still trying to claim he never said it they are at the same time making excuses for why he did say it.

The odd thing about Trump is that the more outrageous he becomes the more some of his supporters or those who seek to defend him rally round him and buy into the ridiculous notion that he is a perpetual victim.
Leaving aside the potential illegal acts he has committed there are numerous incidents, that could be called faux pas if we were being kind, that would have finished him politically in normal times:
1. The whole pussy grabbing episode and the 'locker room' explanation in lieu of an apology.
2. Mocking the military career of an elder statesman within his own party.
3. Mocking a disabled reporter and openly impersonating him in a pejorative manner during a speech.
4.Politicising a traditionally apolitical speech to a group of scouts and using it to massage his own ego.
5. Sacking Rex Tillerson on Twitter.
6. Sharing multiple videos from Britain First on Twitter.
7. The entirety of longest government shutdown in US history.
8. Being a major exponent of the birther conspiracy.
9. His treatment of Khizr and Ghazala Khan.
10. Referencing Pocahontas when talking about Elizabeth Warren.
10 points will probably do for now. Even for those well to the right on the political spectrum, who may be willing to dismiss being offended about mocking women, Muslims and disabled people as the preserve of 'snowflakes' I question how they can see Trump as a man who embodies traditional conservative values. His wilful abuse of the Christian faith for his own ends, his attitude towards NATO, his veneration of dictators, his lack of formality and sense of duty, his dismissive and hostile attitude to traditional US allies and his disdain for the constitution are all completely at odds with that ideology. I question how anyone who calls themselves a Christian, a conservative or a patriot (all things many Americans hold dear) can support or vote for Trump in good conscience.PM Awards General Poster of The Year 2015, 2016, 2017.
