    Callum Beattie

I know somebody might have asked or mentioned this on another thread somewhere, I was just wondering if Callum Beattie is a Hibs fan? Just been listening to 'Easter Road' and 'Salamander Street', really talented lad, great music too.

Thanks for the info VB. I'll never understand somebody who was born and raised in Leith, writes songs about Leith and supports the Huns. But his music is good, no doubt about it.

Wonder if he’s related to Beattie the barbers. Dalkeith High Street 1960’s, guaranteed a short back and disappointment every time 🤣

Only heard 'Salamander Street' but if he's from Leith, why does he sound the Matthew Kelly soundalike of Alex Turner who is from Sheffield?

Is it just me that thinks the song sounds similar to the proclaimers streets of Edinburgh?

He's a brilliant talent. I couldn't really care he's a Rangers fan. His songs are superb and they relate to Leith. Will do for me. Both Easter Road and Salamander Street are exceptional tunes.

Seen him playing in a pub in Dalkeith a few years ago. Bought one of his cd's he was selling, got launched back at him when a few Jambos in the pub got him to start playing "oh the hibees are gay"!!🙄🤣🤣

Is it just me or does anyone else think its a bit odd being a Rangers fan and singing about Easter Road? It would be like me writing and singing about Ipox.

Im not sure he is really that big of a football fan, supports rangers if having to choose through proxy of his old man being a rangers fan as far as I know.
I think he lived just off Easter Road for a while which is where the inspiration for the songs come from more so than any association to Hibs or football.
    I could be wrong though.

Anybody else think his voice is very similar to Kelly Jones of Stereophonics? I thought it was them when I first heard Salamander Street. Mind you I can’t see Kelly Jones singing about Leith ladies of the night.

No taking it away from the guy his tunes are listenable, that however is immaterial when he’s from the Lothians, he’s got fitbaw teams for following on his doorstep - admittedly one or two are lower league - - yet he chooses one of the most unarguably ****miest institutions on earth to attach hisel to. You bet I’ll judge his character on that
