    Inevitable really. The right decision.

A political motivated decision which looked and smelt wrong at the time. Baffling.
Well done to her for correcting it quickly though.

It's interesting that it's listed there as I never saw the actual lifting announced. I know they said on Monday that it was expected to be announced later in the week. Must have lasted less than a few days! Whatever the underlying reason for lifting it, they look a bit silly now. We could all see the problem five days ago.

It was certainly relaxed as my brother flew back from canary isles on Friday and did not require to quarantine.

Is this the first time Scottish Government policy has been rapidly changed by a tweet from the First Minister?

Slightly cynical but could it be that she wanted to introduce so much uncertainty into international travel that she opened the window for two days just to show what a bad idea international travel is and everyone should stay home?

I wonder if there could be a case for allowing travell from the Spanish islands to travel without quarantine, I’m not sure if the virus is better or worse there.

I looked at an article and there are very few cases in the islands. I think active cases were people coming in or illegal immigrants caught from Africa.

Brother said it was quiet but very well organised with masks and sanitiser in every shop / bar etc.

Yep, we’re still in Lanzarote and that’s exactly what it’s like.

Bit frustrating to be told we didn’t have to self isolate and now we do but that’s the risk we took.

Exactly. The risk you and others took, was always there. The prevalence of the virus can't be managed by governments. Some personal responsibility has to be taken. It's not like we're impervious to the situation.

Enjoy the rest of your holidays.

To be fair, it was made clear several times there is always going to be a likelihood this can happen, and to take this into consideration when thinking about going overseas.

Sounds safe enough where you are, enjoy the rest of your break.

Yeah we were well aware this could happen and were 99.9% sure we’d have to self isolate when we got back.

We booked it way back in November and stood to lose money if we didn’t come. At that point the island had no cases at all so felt it was actually safer than being at home.

We should have been cruising from Friday but decided some time ago to cancel. The cruise company then decided to cancel the whole cruise, and it doesn't look like we'll be cruising any time soon.

Italy no more, Malta no more, Maldives no more, invergordon no more.

No idea how reliable the source material is but this is a potentially interesting development:

Strikes me as another case of the bleedin’ obvious.

These face shields leave huge gaps around the face.

There was a piece on the news recently about a hair salon and all the safety things they were doing...the girl being shown in the piece had a face shield on and you were lucky if it actually went down over her mouth. It was patently obvious that it would be doing very little to protect either the wearer or the client.

Seems to me that any droplets would have ample opportunity to exit and enter the space behind the shield.

I think the point is we've always been told that masks are only to protect others, not the wearer. If there's substance to this story it suggests masks are also providing protection to the wearer.

They offer some eye protection, a face covering is what's going to help reduce the risk of spreading infection. That's why medics wear both together.

Like someone else said, it's pretty obvious the gap between visor and face offers no protection.

They do if they are medical grade, their's not so much evidence to support cloth face coverings. I'm in the better than nowt camp.

In other news transport secretary Grant Shapp flew out to Spain for 2 weeks holiday on Friday. 🤣🇪🇸
