He was rejoicing in a decrease in unemployment figures in the US, however it was only white unemployment he was talking about. Black unemployment rose at the same time.

Did overall employment drop? Is it possible he wasn’t making it another race issue? Genuine question btw, I’ve not heard him talking about it or seen the figures.

Edit: just seen the quote and I can’t see any reason why race needs to be brought into the unemployment figures unless I’m missing something?

Disparity in unemployment figures IS a race issue. Especially when Trump has tried to prove his 'I'm not a racist' credentials by using back unemployment figures as a propoganda tool when it suits him.

I don't know in this instance.

In the past he has very specifically pointed to relatively low black unemployment figures to prove what a great egalitarian he is. It's fair game to question him on those specifics when he neglects to mention them.

Not sure if I've missed something but how come the mass gatherings about this - not just in the US but in other countries including the UK - have got the go-ahead? Why not crowds at football or music festivals? The rationale for the demos is all well and good but Covid-19 isn't selective in its spread according to how morally just the gathering might be.

There are surely, as Nicola Sturgeon suggested, other ways to make their point without selfishly flouting social distancing.

Unfortunately the police have little choice but to take a lenient approach with this, at least as far as the UK is concerned. It really wouldn't end well if a protest against police brutality ended up with the police being heavy handed.

Their hands are tied and I just hope that there are no serious repercussions to these gatherings.

I think the stuff about China is much less damning than the Ukraine stuff in terms of legality and nobody who was considering voting for him will care about it either.
