Some disagreement on the benefit of school closures. I suppose that highlights one of the 'problems' of being led by experts. Different experts have different views.PM Awards General Poster of The Year 2015, 2016, 2017. Probably robbed in other years

In saying that, a few weeks ago the French authorities were saying that masks were of no use whatsoever for the general public, but now it looks like they're about to become compulsory.
It's all getting very confusing.

On BBC Radio Scotland a Doctor was on this morning and he said if Boris does recover we are looking at weeks until he would potentially be able to return to work. The likelihood is he will not be leading the country when this virus is at its worst.
Is it time for a Government of national unity? Keir Starmer seems a competent politician and is someone I personally would like to see be involved in the Government's fight against the virus.

Anyone seen the Home Secretary in the last month? Priti Patel. Key cabinet role but clearly completely distrusted with any kind of public messaging.
Shows up the depth of quality in the govt. Full of people who cannot connect or display trust, empathy and leadership.
Johnson isn’t going to be PM after this, no matter what.
So we’re left with a pick n mix selection that involves Hancock, Patel, Gove, Rees-Mogg, Raab, Truss, Sharma, Jenrick, Williamson etc etc.
I suppose Sunak could be a contender but only just in the job.
What a mess.

Hancock strikes me as one of the least able people ever to reach such a lofty cabinet post.

Plenty time on my hands just now and I rarely ever see GMTV. However, it has occurred to me that Piers Morgan and his cohorts are the most abusive and bile people I have ever witnessed on UK television. He exists for the sole purpose of creating arguments. Its not a debate. Its a rant. The man is tripe. His 'show' is tripe. Wish he'd just go somewhere and never come back.

"Boris" (no surname necessary) is the perfect man for the job according to the TV this morning who are all but canonising him. ("Everyone in the country is praying for him" )
I've yet to hear any concrete criticism being followed through. Hancock made a mess of assessing the problem and for its preparation but the lack of examination of his performance and the constant footage of him miming that "ramping up" thing with his hands means hes "popular". He should be out of a job given his (in)actions in Jan-Feb.
Cant see anything wrong with widening the pool of MPs available for public duties, although as I said it wont happen. We'll end up with Gove as PM and stagger from piller to post.

Saw something on TV about people who were deemed “high risk”, never received letters
I know of quite a few family members, and my mums neighbours who should possibly have received them, but never got one
Anyone in the same boat, or does anyone know someone, who got a letter?

Edit - Just checked and it's UK wide but administered by the respective governments.

I posted earlier in the thread that I have a friend that lives in Rome. She is a key worker so has still been working throughout.
She posted a couple of pictures on Instagram today of Battistini metro station and it was rammed, she said it has been getting gradually busier for a few days now as are the streets. The 1st week of the lockdown she had a whole carriage to herself, today she said she couldn't even count how many were on board as it was so busy. Also posted pictures of a perfume shop that had opened and people queuing to get in. She seems to think the lockdown is about to break in Rome as people are blatantly flouting it and the Police are struggling to/not even trying to control things.
Given things seem to be slowly improving in Italy it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
