Don’t think she needs sacked. She does need to be removed from the face of the information drive. Her daily position at the podium is certainly untenable. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Of course we were under-prepared for this. As was pretty much every country in the world bar, perhaps, those Asian nations who had taken stronger measures in the wake of the Sars virus. In what way have we handled things worse than, say, Italy, Spain, France or the USA? Germany gets held up as an example of efficiency when it comes to keeping on top of testing, but on the flip side we have Sweden adopting Johnson's much-derided 'herding' approach. Whose approach is best? The mortality rate is grim pretty much across the board.
No denying the government has made mistakes but IMHO they're doing their best to correct them. Would any other recent UK or world leader have done any better in dealing with a crisis that touches every aspect of our lives? It's a monumental task and one for which there was never going to be some sort of prototype solution.

Re context - I agree that her credibility has been seriously undermined, possibly fatally. But isn’t it a funny world we live in where someone who is clearly very good at their job can undo everything by going away to Elie for the night with her family? It’s not exactly snorting coke off hookers breasts or getting caught with a bag over your head and an orange up your hoop, is it? As I say, all about context and those actions may have carried consequences, serious ones.

Calderclown II should be suspended like any other disciplinary and dealt with in due course whether that’s dismissal or not. What she did is indefensible if the Scottish Government are serious with the advice they are giving us.

A massive part of her role is to give advice and her credibility in doing so has been destroyed in my opinion.
Also, she's a figurehead for the health profession. If I'm a nurse or a doctor who has been putting myself in harm's way and hearing about colleagues dying, I'd be extremely angry at having a figurehead whose deliberate actions could well have made the situation worse. What does that do for NHS morale?
I like Sturgeon but she needs to act quickly to remove Calderwood.

Just saw this on Linkedkin, post by a Doctor
I discharged home 3 patients who kicked corona’s butt this week. All significantly over 70 and with underlying health problems.
I downstaged 2 more, who will go home after a wee bit of rehab.
That’s more than we wrote death certificates for.

However, the current challenge of her role is a niche one and she's proven she's not up to that specific challenge.

I think it probably comes down to her measured and professional approach in the daily conferences.
One that will now of course sound rather hollow and completely two faced.
She’s totally undermined her own authority and in doing so should have done the right thing and stood down this morning.

I don’t know how easy it is to replace someone in that level of position but my guess would be that it isn’t easy. Particularly in the middle of a global pandemic.
What she has done is really damaging but there is definitely an argument that it could damage things even further if she is removed.
