That's a very scary thought. We're only in the early days of restrictions and I'm starting to struggle already. I'm not sure how I'm going to cope if this lasts for several months. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Employers need to balance up keeping the doors open with the well-being off their staff and their staff's families.
I am expected to go to work tomorrow but I'd be amazed if, once they've had time to assess the situation and make plans, the instruction isn't to work from home until further notice.Follow the Hibs podcast, Longbangers, on Twitter (@longbangers)

It's a situation that is almost impossible to comprehend. My daughter is 2 and may spend a chunk of her formative years 'socially distanced'. It's only a matter of time before her nursery closes, her swimming lessons and ballet have gone and I suppose non essential contact includes visiting her friends. At the other end of the scale my Grandad is 87 in May, lives alone and, because my partner and I can't work from home, we'll have to limit face to face contact with him. That can't be good for him and frankly I get the impression he would rather take his chances with the virus than exist, it's not really living, in such a way for months on end. Every single interview I have seen with anyone involved with the government makes it clear the '12 weeks' timescale is bollocks. You can see in their face and hear in their voice that they know it's going to be far longer than that. Add to all that the financial worries because our government lags miles behind some of our European neighbours in what support they are going to offer individuals and businesses and it just becomes a total mind **** to put it bluntly.
I daresay people will adjust to a new normal given time but it's a pretty daunting prospect. This isn't a couple of weeks pretending it's the blitz.PM Awards General Poster of The Year 2015, 2016, 2017. Probably robbed in other years

People are going to die. Lots of them and those left behind will also suffer severe consequences of the economic kind and who knows what the future holds.
The young need to be protected somehow from the harsh realities of what's going to happen. I don't know how they will be but hopefully the generations of the future will go on to create a better future.
A vaccine isn't proposed likely for at least 18 months or more away so who knows what the mortatliy rate might end up as.
Me I'm going to take each day as it comes and take the preventative measures proposed such as keeping the hands clean but in the long term most of us will get the virus in any case.
If I sound slightly tipsy its because I am but I speak genuinely.
God Bless us all.

Still it’s absolutely terrifying to think of how far out of its depth the current government is and that we are stuck with them through the worst of this

What about those of us in the building trade who can’t work from home? Savings will only last so long when you’re on 90 quid a week statuary pay. Worrying times

The local pub that you never went to because a bottle of wine was cheaper in Asda, the restaurant you always meant to try but never made it, the bookshop you walked past because the same book was a pound cheaper on Amazon, the local spark you see getting in his van every morning etc etc. A lot of them won't exist in a few months time. There has been a use it or lose it campaign around the high Street, pubs, local trade for a while now but I think people downplayed how precarious the situation was. Maybe this will change people's attitudes.
Hopefully things play out OK for you in the weeks ahead. It's a worrying time.PM Awards General Poster of The Year 2015, 2016, 2017. Probably robbed in other years

Was admitted into hospital yesterday (not Coronavirus) in a "fit" ward but all five of us in the bay we are in are vulnerable. The staff are brilliant but hope to be discharged today, I can see how the virus could spread, visitors seem to walk in and out and touch everything. By the time i am discharged i may be advised to go home and stay there depending on the latest advice.
Would have been off anyway so not a problem maybe just the length of time a quarantine could be in force for.

Every face I pass in the street looks strained and deep in thought. It’s unprecedented times and we are just looking for anything that can point to a positive and indication as to how things can get back to some kind of normality in a manageable way, but if this is just the beginning it leaves you feeling desperate.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve lost all interest in what happens with this seasons outstanding fixtures and whether or not Hearts get relegated or not. Right now they are way down the list of worries.

Please remember with all research and opinion:
"It is worth stressing this is all based on mathematical models. They make assumptions, they are not perfect and what they find is not written in stone. This virus emerged only in December and we're still trying to fully understand it. The scale and role of asymptomatic infections or the summer weather in the pandemic are still unknown."
Therefore the 250k death toll is total unproven conjecture. I understand the need to look at worst case scenario so if it turns out better its good but let's give the plan undertaken time to develop.
Every day this spreads is also a day we learn more about it and possible ways to deal with it. I think the UK is generally not bad when told to do stuff, the key thing is are we being told the right stuff.
