My dad, his wife, daughter, son in law and two friends have now given up coming here in May from the US.
I'm edging on relieved but selfishly I'm gutted missing out my father. **** this virus.

I'm probably pretty well prepared as I'm terrible for picking up a tin of this or that every time I'm in the shop because it's handy to have if the bairn is being fussy. There's probably 2 weeks worth of tins because of that. Add to that she love lentils and pasta so I have loads of them as well.
I could probably make a fortune in the toilet roll and soap black market. My work sell toilet rolls in a 40 pack and soap in a 12 pack and I alway pick them up when I need them because we get them at cost so it's a no brainer. I picked up one of each a couple of weeks back because I needed them so I'm covered for that.
The worry with panic buying is that it is probably an inadvertent 'I'm alright Jack' action. It's understandable people are stocking up for themselves 'just in case' but an elderly person with little support living week to week on their pension may not have that ability. If they go to the shops during the week and young, healthy people have cleared the shelves of everything is that not just another way of putting them at heightened risk?

I'm also uneasy with the fact they are basically saying folk need to die while we wait for a certain amount to be infected

I'm just back from Tesco in Duke Street, busiest I've ever seen the place at this time and lots of barren shelves already, I only went for orange juice but the place will be wild come this afternoon

Its pretty weird here at the moment. Pubs and restaurants being told to make their own decisions re-closure even though theres a ban on groups of 100 or more indoors. In the village people want to support their local places but are also trying to do social distancing. I popped into the pub last night & the place was busy with everyone trying to stay a meter apart!? Already one of the local cafe's has shut down for two weeks minimum (and they are generally jammed with customers every day). I've heard rumours the civil defence are being brought in from Monday, could be bull**** but that was from someone who is in civil defense. I'm just glad I dont have kids as with the schools being closed & elderley being at risk so man parents at their wits end trying to arrange child care & keep a job going.

It's a vicious cycle because every day there is an empty shelf leads to more panic buying as and when food becomes available which leads to additional shortages and it keeps repeating. If others stores have to start following Tescos lead and ration certain products then I support them doing it. Loading up with 10 soaps and 5 loaves of bread might make some feel secure but it's creating a situation that denies others.PM Awards General Poster of The Year 2015, 2016, 2017. Got this text last night:
;
To protect patients from Corona virus we are moving to telephone consulting. Please don't attend the surgery.
So that's the doctors shutting down. Has caused panic mode here and everyone on Facebook freaking out about it. Was made even worse when some popped up saying the Royal is crawling with it and to expect an announcement soon that its in lock down. No idea if its true or not but not good if it is.

I've just ordered repeat prescriptions even though I have 3 weeks supply because I am on holiday the end of next week for a week. (staying in Scotland so should be OK and the company I booked through have emailed to keep me up to date)There is no such thing as too much yarn, just not enough time.

So, my boy's school has closed until after Easter, my wife (software developer) has been told to work from home for the foreseeable future but I'm still expected to transport hundreds of coughing, sneezing and sweating passengers from A to B in a pressurised tin can with no protection other than rubber gloves and hand sanitizer. It's pretty much guaranteed that I'll get this (if I haven't already) and pass it on to my family. Rumour has it that airlines will be grounded soon, the minute that happens I'm off in the caravan to the Baltic to sit this thing out. If we're going to be quarantined then at least in a place with a view and decent fresh air.

Looking at the figures which I know is only rough, apart from Italy ourselves and quite a few other countries have a far far less percentage death rate. It maybe now done to how the vulnerable are protected either by themselves or family friends.
IMO the amount of people that will catch it will be high I think the amount of deaths will not rise as much as seen in Italy.
