Best draw possible. We really have had a fair bit of luck with these over the last few years, long may it continue! Big opportunity for a trip to Hampden.
We’ve been lucky in the SC draws last few years have we.? - Compared to who exactly...?

The result the other week was one of those random freak results. Hearts by all accounts played well that day and deserved to win but the reality is they are murder so I highly doubt lightening will strike twice. They got lucky and squeezed past Falkirk last night.

Magic of the cup and all that, anything can happen but just can't see a team as rank as hearts beating Rangers twice in the space of a couple of months. But hey ho, kind of hoping they do as Rangers are a much better side and I'd far more fancy us against hearts than them if we were both to progress to the semis or final.
Me too. Hearts won’t win the cup, I want them in the Semi.

Dundee utd away was the hardest draw any spl team got. Bsc was a decent draw but the wind was a great leveller. Our neighbours have twice got to cup finals without playing a top flight team. Now that's lucky.

Yep. But just remember, there will be all that debate about using Murrayfield for the game. Got to save all those troublesome Edinburgh types having to travel all the way to Glasgow for a game

I smell a nice wee run to the final and an open topped bus to follow.

Tbf I dont know of any club on earth whose fans moan more about a 42mile journey than ours.

Theres a lot of clubs & cities worldwide (some South London/Brighton derbies etc) where 42miles is just about the local derby

We seemed to get horrendous draws for a while, there’s no doubt the draw has been generous to us in recent years.

Avoiding Celtic and Rangers until the final almost every year since ~2012. That's good fortune in my book.

You do know we got Celtic in the QF last season..? And Tynecastle 3 seasons in a row before that.?! (2 when we were a Championship side.)

So what teams do you reckon have had bad fortune in the draws the past few years.?

Yes I'm fully aware, that's why I said most years. I would say that any team who's drawn Rangers or Celtic more than once in 8 years is less fortunate.

With Hibs and Hearts having home ties the weekend before a televised Tuesday night derby are one of us going to be playing Sunday then Tuesday?

Can they have a lunch time kick off at Tynie and us at 3pm on the same day?

Well we’ve met them twice in the past 8 years but that’s quite a little loose OF formula you’ve got going on in your rationale there. Do you think any team getting drawn in the early rounds to Tynecastle 3 years in a row (including Celtic and Rangers) would consider themselves fortunate.? I just dont see why any Hibs fan would say we’ve been lucky in the Scottish Cup draws in the past few years. Again, I’d ask who do you think amongst the Hearts and Aberdeens have had difficult draws..? We even had the hardest opening round against Dundee Utd a few weeks back that none of the other top teams would have relished.

Spot on, I don't know if it stems from (justifiable) anti-Glasgow attitudes, but it really is a very short trip to make.

We've been drawn against an OF side once since 2011, I don't have much memory of ties before then but that's long enough to prove my point. We've 'met' them in a couple of finals, but IMO we've done well to avoid them, more so than Hearts and Aberdeen, for example. We got all the way to the semi final without playing a top flight side back in 14/15 and have generally gotten ties that I would consider to be more favourible at this stage in the competition.

You're welcome to disagree with that, but I personally like that we've managed to avoid the OF for the most part over the last 9 years.

We've had great Scottish Cup draws in recent seasons.

Our toughest run of teams, ironically, was 2016.

Oh it’s the ‘“last 9 years’” now. Ok, well for a start, in most of that time, The Rangers can hardly have been considered a draw to dread for a lot of teams like Hibs, Hearts, Sheep, Utd, so that dilutes your theory by a significant percentage. Can I remind you we have met Celtic twice and Rangers once in an attempt to get our hands on the trophy.. (3 times in your 9 year theory)

The past 3 seasons alone since we’ve won it we’ve been put out by Hearts at Tynie, Aberdeen and Celtic. All difficult ties for any top team.

I’m assuming your comparison is against Hearts, but did you consider their run to the Final last year - and the fact they drew their rivals on their own home turf in that time.?

We played Hearts 4 times, Aberdeen once and Celtic once before the semi final stage.

Hearts played us 4 times, Aberdeen once and Celtic twice.

Aberdeen played Hibs, Hearts, Celtic and Rangers once.

    Rangers played Aberdeen once.

Celtic played Hibs and Aberdeen once and Hearts twice.

We don't really get it easy do we? Our four toughest fixtures throughout a year and we have barely avoided all of them til the semi's apart from one season 2014/15.

To be fair, you can't really compare Hibs v Hearts with a South London/Brighton derby.

I does seem a bit strange to have two teams from one city, both travel 40 odd miles to play a match when there's a far better solution right on the door step. Also, are we not currently trying to save the planet?

Last 9 years yes. I wasn't making a comparison, I very simply pointed out the factual statement that we have been drawn against the OF once since 2011, I'm happy about that. I don't know why it's been so upsetting to you, by no means does it mean we've had it easy in the Scottish Cup, but we absolutely have gotten some decent draws over the last 9 years, particularly in the latter stages of the competition.

I'd much rather play Hearts at Tynie or Aberdeen than I would Celtic or Rangers prior to the final round and we've done that 8 out of the last 9 years.

I didn't say we get it easy. I said we've been fortunate not to draw Celtic or Rangers most years. Particularly for a team that has gotten to the semi finals stage so often in recent times.

Well said. Plus our Scottish Cup record and performances have been generally excellent and entertaining in the past several years.
