What's people's thoughts on his knighthood?
I think what he did was inexcusable, and his failure to accept his guilt since should mean that he is not the right sort of person to be knighted.
Let's face it though, he is not the only tosser to be honoured by the Queen, so is this as much about opportunism from women's rights groups, as condemning his reprehensible behaviour.
Being up in arms about some civil servant with a dodgy past does not gain quite the same level of publicity, as going after a famous Yorkshireman that nobody ever liked in the first place.

Even if he hadn't been convicted of assaulting a woman I'd still say he's the bellends favourite bellend. Arrogant **** whose only interested in his own opinion and not shy at letting everyone else know.

There's only one thing better than a Hibs calendar and that's two Hibs calendars

The whole system is a complete joke when you see the folk getting these things thrown at them.
He's a great example of a totally inappropriate person to be recognised by the state.

Edit: good answer, pretty much seals it for me. They would be remiss if they didn't criticize it.Last edited by Cataplana; 13-09-2019 at 08:08 PM.

I despise the current incarnation of the "honours" system, but Boycott is probably the perfect recipient to characterise its anachronism.

Ridiculous that anyone should be given a Knighthood on the say so of a past PM, unfortunately this isn't the only example of this with many being given over the years to the old school tie brigade down south.

Nobody in the game seemed to like him. He would regularly get team mates run out, by refusing to leave the crease if he thought there was a chance he would get dismissed. His partner would be left in no man's land.
It was all about Geoffrey getting his "roons" , nothing to do with the team winning.
Was he not sacked by Yorkshire because he was such a jerk?

I can’t understand why ANYONE would like the man enough to recommend him in the first place.
I think it brings May judgement of people into question as well as those around her.
People like Boycott are utterly toxic and a great example of how NOT to be a man, let alone a gentleman.

I listen to Boycott's gritty pronouncements on TMS and he's good value but he needs to be put back on the shelf when it's all over.

By all accounts he is not a nice bloke at all. Certainly very few in cricket seem to like him! I can't listen to him all.

Ian Botham famously deliberately ran him out in 1978, all the rest of the team knew of it and were in cahoots. He was that disliked as a person.

Cricket loving friend just said the thing about Boycott is he is one of the few Yorkies that doesn't endlessly bore on about Yorkshire being the best thing in the world because he knows he is.
Just thought I'd share.

There is a bit say what I like and like what I say, about Boycott. Almost like Alf Garnet.
