    In the meantime..........

No transfer news beyond the near certainty we are signing Middleton on loan next week.

Tomorrow will be a big test of whether Heckingbottoms signings are up to scratch. Vela will need to step up several gears in midfield, Newall will need to work hard v Tavernier and try and keep him on the back foot. Doidge will have a part to play, hopefully in partnership with Kamberi up front. Jackson will also be tested v Morales.

It’s early in the season and the team is still gelling, but it’s the same for the Hun. We know what we get from the established players ( and Allan) and they’ve shown they can get results in big games. Hopefully, the new guys display the qualities we hope for.

I still think we some more in. I guess we find out at Ibrox.
Doidge will be on the bench and we will play 4-5-1. Rangers will be sharper with Europa league games. As you say a real test for us.

Really don't think tomorrow matters as much as some are pretending. Mowbray got walloped there early in his first season, finished 3rd. Collins played them off the park and won 1-0, finished 6th. Our home form against everyone and away form Vs bottom six are main things. Draws away against top 6 are great results. Wins are incredible but not expected at all.

Results away at Ibrox have never determined the quality of a Hibs team because if Rangers play their best we lose 99/100.

I think if most are honest it is early season and it will take time and as you say only natural to have some concerns however a wee bit of context needed plus support and patience.

Always support the team and. Never give a player a hard time during the game if he is trying his best. But does not stop you have concerns. My main one is a lack of goals from upfront. Why I raised the need for another striker. If we were still in for McNulty after signing Doidge then we cant be done in that department . Here is hoping.

Imagine we had used this as our policy and not signed david gray, we wouldnt have won the scottish cup, luckily we dont go with daft ideas like this, vela is almost 26 so technically was over 25 when he signed, doidge is also 26 I believe
Big ”old” Daz [who had been recently on a free] also had a header at the PBS that was quite important in getting us through 🙂. In general I think we shouldn’t be signing stop gap players like our neighbours and I think giving a 4 yr deal on a big wage to a guy in his 30s like Naismith is a very dangerous [and desperate] strategy to pursue.

Tomorrow is just another game, but it’s a big test. I don’t think anyone’s really saying it’s the be all and end all, just that it’s a big game for us.

Call em optimistic, but I always hope for victory against all teams, particularly outside the old firm. As is often said, it’s the hope that kills you. I suppose our record at Ibrox over the past four seasons inspires a bit of confidence.

Problem is the likes of your negativity transfers itself on to the ground. It’s the same on all the Fb pages, moan moan moan. A couple of misplaced passes and you can feel the unrest in the ground. It’s a minority but you sure are loud about your feelings.

I personally think it’s the Scottish Cup win that has given our support a strange sense of entitlement. That and some people are just not going to take to Hecky for some reason. Can’t wait for him and his signings to fail.

As for your constant slaggings of Doidge, he may or may not turn out to be a good signing. At least get behind him and give him a chance ffs.

I prefer PH to Lennon. But we are clearly constrained by our budget. I will support all the players on the park but let's face the facts about Doidge - both his record at tier 3 in England and what we have seen so far in friendlies, Betfred and SPL. As I said I hope he succeeds but given what I have said it seems unlikely. We have been outspent by Aberdeen and Hearts which it is likely we finish behind them. Only hope is Levein and the miss management at Hearts. I have only criticised players on field once and that was during the Butcher relegation run when some players were clearly not trying. A reaction to Malpas and Butcher's bully boy tactics.

On a scale of 1 to 10, just how solid will your erection be if Doidge turns out to be a poor signing?

Rein it in and get behind the team ffs.

If I read anymore of your posts there's a good chance I will jump out of my bedroom window, smashing glass all around me as I go, putting my own lifeat risk just to relieve the boredom.

If he does fail I wont be joining in the threads lambasting him. It wont be his fault but our budget and PH's judgement. I will be leaping up and down and opening a San Miguel if he scores the winner tomorrow.

Henrik Larrson horrific first match in SPL. Ffs how can anyone know for sure if any players will work. I'm not saying any are good or bad as 1 SPL match is not enough not even close to it.

If we have good or ***** players I think it's only fair to let the prove this one way or another.

****ty Keith Wright took until his 3rd SPL game for first league goal what a disaster he was. Let's be realistic on giving people a decent chance to pass or fail.

Can I ask. What is our budget and what do you think it should be, relative to our income?

    Genuine question btw.

You have to bare in mind for that Doidge was playing for Bolton in the Championship. A complete basket case of a club for the last cpl of seasons. (You will bring up Vela I’m sure, but he was there for a long time).

From what I have seen of him so far he gets into good positions and is good at linking up as per his assist last week. Should have scored yes, but I remember Agathe missing a similar chance at Tynecastle on his debut. Certainly not going to write him off this early.

Both Larson and Keith W had proven track records and a pedigree. Doidge does not.

We have 3 points in the SPL and struggled to beat ST Mirren at home who have been getting whipped by lower league teams. One bit of Allan magic saved us. We missed sitters and looked venerable at the back when the Saints counter attacked. I for one am worried against an ever improving Rangers.
While you're on here what happened to that striker you said was incoming about a week or 2 back?

Vela played in the championship and has lot of games under his belt at that level. Doidge was playing for a contract or at least trying to impress others. He got one goal in 17 games in the third tier.

To be fair to the omnipresent poster, people on here are lapping it up. Starve the response and surely they will get bored. It’s interesting to see how people repeatedly take the bait, despite the response, the predictabilty of it’s monotony. I guess that’s the kind of forum we must enjoy, otherwise why bother?

It's not the spirit, it's a fact. They spend more and have better players. I'm not giving a team talk so it doesn't matter what I say.

Your spot on. Not sure why I’m even engaging in it. The inability to accept it was a decent assist last weekend shows that discussing anything with him is like banging your head off a wall.
