I'm still pretty confident he's just tempering expectations of loads of signings. Pretty much the exact opposite of Lennon last year who was promising signings in the next few days all summer. We'll end up with someone in at least 1 of those positions imo
Maybe not loads but I'd doubt very much that's us finished in the transfer market.

Cards close to chest and all that.

I don't know. I thought that initially but I've just watched his press conference and he mentions finances not changing and nobody else coming in.

Just watched it too. I'd be more worried if he said "we were looking a midfielder, striker, etc - we've got plenty cash and really sure we will get them".

Selling clubs would be rubbing their hands and fans expectations would go through the roof.

Possible red herring? (Genuinely not a pun btw).

Halkett is a good solid Premier standard CH who will do well at Hearts.

I don't think anyone was disagreeing with that kind of assessment.

Hoping the player Hearts have just signed is another Malaury Martin
Apart from a 2 year spell at Cardiff, nothing else on his CV is impressive

I can't. But I can tell you he's superb because he signed for Hibs.

If he'd signed for hearts he'd be a terrible signing.
    Cracking!

    More trolling.

Obvious to everyone apart from Poster D presumably.

I think you'll find that others were arguing about my opinion that Halkett is superb. I think you're being a bit precious if an internet discussion forum has you needing a break.

    I wasn’t.

It was your claim on how often you watched LIVINGSTON

Anyway, I’m off now or I’ll be just as guilty of trolling as you and Poster D

I don't think it's at all controversial to think that Damour will be a good signing for Hearts and would have possibly fit in very well at us - as a DM he'd be the missing piece in the puzzle.

I hope we're still looking for one.

I don’t think controversial is the right word but I do think it’s weird people who have hardly seen him play creaming themselves about how good he is when there’s very little on his cv to suggest that’s the case.

He might end up being brilliant but I’m not going to whip myself into a frenzy worrying about why we never went for him.

Yip exactly, unless folk watch these guys every week we have little idea how they will play

IIRC when Efe left there was plenty people on here saying we should be going for Halkett a s he was a pretty decent CH, suddenly anyone who still thinks this is a troll because he now plays for Hearts instead of Livi, no matter who he signed for Halkett is a good solid Premier standard CH who will do well at Hearts.
Don’t be expecting much of a reasoned reply to that. You’re too established (no offence) to be gang up on and your reply is too reasoned to argue. The poster (jambo to some, just random poster to others) put in “superb” and now he’s the devil.

    Or player.

“Ojo is one we have tracked all pre-season and thought we had him before we realised S****horpe due a fee, even then we bid for him to move the goal posts”

“Vela is a player we have had to be patient with but demonstrated how much we wanted him by waiting all summer”

Either one was back up or he wanted both meaning he would still like a midfielder considering one of the players we waited for ages went elsewhere.

  19. #10548
Seems we will sign Middleton - but agree with others.

We don’t have a natural defensive midfielder- Vela isn’t natural to that.

If he's being honest were in for a long hard & not very productive season.

I honesty can’t think of why he would say that if he didn’t mean it, I for one think he’s telling it as it is otherwise he would say he’s still on the lookout. It’s very disappointing and puts a dampener on things when fans can see obvious gaps in the squad during the transfer window and your manager comes out with these gems. Crazy talk if he’s not done yet!

If it’s weird without many seeing him play then the same could be said about any of our signings apart from Allan. We are crying out for a defensive midfielder in the middle of the pitch. They seem to have gotten one. Until we get one, when w team around us sign what looks quality you are going to get remarks on them going to other sides.

Heckers has addressed that, he doesn’t want a defensive midfielder, he wants midfielders that can tackle.

I’m not convinced we’ve had a great summer recruitment wise, I don’t see what looks like quality about this guy though? 29 games for Cardiff in 2 years, think someone said many of them as a sub? Before that he went from one bang average club to another. Looks to me like he’s living off his youth career in the French set up.

He was very highly rated before Cardiff and I remember watching them to see how Paterson was doing down there and Damour stood out for another hoofballing side as a combative midfielder.

We need a DM imo. Ignoring it is mental especially when playing one up top and expecting more from the likes of Allan and Mallan to put their legs in. Let the creative players play football.

Would Hecky have wanted Allan had he had not agreed a deal? It would be interesting to know deep down if so.

We arent crying out for one according to PH, I've heard him say numerous times he wants his midfielders to be attacking & defensive in their play. I dont think we will see anyone come in that is just going to sit in front of the back four. I do think we will get 1 more after Middleton though.

He’s not going to want to own a mid table side in Scotland for no reason so he probably will have to invest big time.

We did sign one. This place is truly mental.
