When did the term ‘recruit’ replace the term ‘signings’?
About the same time that Up top replaced Up front!

Joking? Folk underrate Maguire so much, great player.

    The world’s most expensive defender.

The world’s best defender? Not a chance.

He is a good player but Utd have been rinsed once again.

I'm wondering how many clubs would take Maguire before Van Dijk if they were given the choice.....

    Slight exaggeration perhaps?

Just as a matter of interest have you ever described a Hibs player as superb?

Halkett is fine, but truly there isn't a superb player playing in Scotland at the moment and relatively few in England either.

The amount of exaggerated nonsense I read on here about Hearts and Aberdeen and their signings and how Hibs need to step up to the plate and lack ambition would give you the boak.

This board is rammed full of folk who cant say a good word about Hibs and criticise the club incessantly whilst creaming their pants over Hearts & Aberdeen.

If the background colours weren't green and white you could be excused somedays for wondering if you had stumbled onto their boards.

For the record, in the last 5 years, neither has had players of the quality of McGinn, or McGeouch to name but two.

Halkett will also have to push past the car crash that is Souttar from his own club alone before getting anywhere near a Scotland call up.

Try bigging up one of our players once in a while it is surprisingly uplifting

The pessimism on here is a joke at times. We have a forward thinking, ambitious, young manager who has put his neck on the line in shaping our squad with players from a market that he knows well and clearly has faith in. I applaud the decision to back our manager and "go for it" with his plans. It is not without its risks, but the rewards could be phenomenal. Scoffing at lower league English players? Wake up... 6 of the Scot Prem teams are usually so bad it's laughable. There is loads to be positive about with our new team. The experienced core is still there. The new players are from similar experiences and backgrounds which should foster a good team spirit. Heck is our leader, and Ron Gordon has only had half a transfer window, give them both your full backing.
Agree with this 100%. Came on here for some transfer rumours but instead I've had to scroll through page after page of bedwetting pishery.

Of course halkett is superb. Do you think a non superb defender could have kept Aberdeen down to only 3 goals?

So Did Hornby or Moult go out on loan before the window slammed shut ?

If not does that mean IF they move it can’t be to EPL or Championship clubs but free to go to Leagues 1 or 2, abroad or Scotland ?

So you'd base the talents of one defender on the amount of goals a team has scored?

I’m not a Utd fan by any stretch but how exactly have they been rinsed? £85m is well within their reach and Leicester were resolute that they weren’t going to accept any less. Would Man U have been better keeping their money? Who was a better value alternative?

As a % of Utd’s turnover it’s not a problem. They have serious issues in their recruiting which will take years to solve (look at how few players they’ve managed to get rid of this summer) but the players they have bought will definitely improve them and bring good attitudes and work rate

That's a nice rant about whether I do or don't talk up hibs players.

How did you manage to come to the conclusion that I don't without my input?

    A lot of them, yes.

If I was saying these things about a player who didn't play for hearts, would the comments I'm receiving be the same?

A lot of people are irate that hearts might've signed a good player.

Hibs aren't the only team in the league guys.

I’m certainly not irate, I’m just taken aback at how highly you rate him. I’ve seen him on several occasions both on tv and in person and couldn’t honestly say I noticed anything particularly special.

Well if they were proactive enough they could have had alderweireld at £25m. Imho he is a better defender than Maguire and let's face it the whole world in football terms knew he had a £25m buy out clause. The same could be said for any team coming in for him now they will have to pay top dollar as I can see home signing a 1 year extension

The Hibs.net consensus is that they've signed average players and the only good ones are injury prone anyway so who cares.

Preston have sold a forward to Sheff Utd and brought in David Nugent. Can't see Moult moving.

The only way you could know that for sure is if you watched every one of their games. I'd have thought you'd be watching Hibs on those days?

I thought The Rangers looked very good tonight

Hopefully they will still be knackered on Sunday

I would like to see us bring 2-3 quality players a defender a midfielder and a striker into the squad maybe in the loans market

We are still looking light squad wise and even one quality signing would give a boost to ST sales

    We have until 2/9/19

Alderweireld is 4 years older and was apparently looking for astronomical wages. Having said that, I was a bit surprised that they didn’t sign both of them.

Skipped 3 pages because I can't be arsed reading through all the crap spouted on this shambles of a thread.

So far it looks like we sometimes so and sometimes don't pay fees for players.

It either too early to tell if Hecky's going to be good or the squad is fine and we'll do well.

Seemingly Hearts and Aberdeen are now world beaters with brilliant squads and a superb window.

The only way to get your point over on .net is to either bicker as much as possible or basically just slag off the other poster because you haven't got the brains to argue your point.

If all else fails, just start making puns which will pi,ss off the majority of the posters.

    Is this about right?
