May was a great player at St. Johnstone, but he's never got over his knee injury at Preston.

Stevie May hasn't had the best of times with Aberdeen but the quality is there and he could easily step up again with us.
Doesn’t fit out transfer criteria I’m afraid

I don’t understand the theory that we’re weaker than last season in the slightest. We have brought in 7 players who IMO are all of a good enough standard to play important roles in any matchday squad this season. We lost 11 players in the summer but only 3 of them played any sort of major part in the season and especially under hecky those being Milligan omeonga and mcnulty.

Omeonga has been replaced with Scott Allan both players IMO hecky will see as the main attacking CM on the left of the three and for me Scott Allan wins that duel every day of the week.

Milligan has now been replaced with Vela, vela comes in with a very good reputation and seems a bit of a coup. I liked Milligan and would have happily seen him stay but vela appears to have much more energy which hecky virtually states was the reason he let Milligan go. For me that’s 2-0 to the new signings.

Finally Mark McNulty has been replaced with Doidge, this one for me is 50/50 McNulty came in and done a good job for us, but let’s not forget that for half his loan spell he didn’t score and really wasn’t influencing games at all, he had an excellent start to his loan spell and for what it’s worth I would have taken him back(would still like to). So far I’ve liked what I’ve seen from doidge and think he will score plenty goals from the good delivery Allan mallan can provide from set plays and also Boyle and Horgan from wide areas, he will also offer a very good Ariel threat when we need to get up the park quickly so for me like I said 50/50. I’ll say 3-1 to the new signings in terms of starting 11 players.

Our other recruits in Maxwell, James, Jackson and newell have seen us directly replace bogdan, strengthen our defence along with porteous coming back and newell adding another option wide or also as a centre mid in the Scott Allan role on the left of CM.

Players who have left that haven’t been mentioned, Lewis Allan(1 start and 3/4 sub apps0 goals) Marvin Bartley(big hero but hardly featured) Ross Laidlaw(didn’t feature last season) Thomas Ageypong (11 appearances 1 goal) Miquel Nelom (3 appearances) Johnathon Spector( 1 sub appearance) Gael Bigarama ( 1 sub appearance).

An additional point would also be we have the emergence of Oli Shaw with a full seasons experience and now a proper first team player( like it or not he scored important goals and had a good return last year) Fraser Murray who has been my pick of Pre season and sean Mackie all now first team players with Josh Campbell and Ben Stirling now filling the role of “youngsters”.

I’d imagine come st mirren our starting 11 and bench will look like this,

    Marciano
    Gray Hanlon McGregor Mackie
    Mallan vela Allan
    Boyle. Doidge Horgan

Bench: maxwell Jackson James newell shaw kamberi murray.

That’s with Stevenson slivka and porteous out injured.

For me that’s a very strong squad of 21 players with the likes of Whittaker Stirling and Campbell supplementing it and a squad more than capable of finishing top 4
    Outstanding post.

The only thing id say is, I've a feeling McGregor will be back-up, and it will be Jackson.

I think James will play quite a part due to Gray's tendency to pick up injuries.

More the case you have no idea what a journeyman is.
    Sounds like you're content.

I'm not convinced in the least.
    That's football.
I reserve the right to hold the opinion though, and you yours, but I am disappointed in a number of the signings and the lethargic football (2+ hours without a goal in open play v Stirling & alloa suggests something needs worked on, pronto).

All want the Hibs to do well so hope to see better v arbroath Tuesday.

It will click today and we will win very comfortably.
Here is the thing PH has not yet started anything like the team that will be close to the starting 11 .
Only then will we see if the players will gel quickly and look like a unit.
All we have seen so far is warm up matches.
From here on in I expect to see our so called full strengh line ups being used what ever that is to be.
For what it's worth I don't think we are done bringing players in or leaving .
I fully expect flo to leave and possibly another but flo could be key to getting the players that hibs want in .

Not being convinced yet is fine, I’m not sure if anybody is but to call them journeymen is just wrong. That’s not an opinion, it just seems as if you don’t know what the word actually means

So the transfer business is done which leaves us with a rubbish team:-

Marciano - voted best keeper since 2000

Gray - voted best RB since 2000, legend and leader of men

McGregor - strong experienced class defender that never gives the ball away

Hanlon - ball playing centre half and club legend, Hibs man

Stevenson - Scotland international, Mr consistency, club legend, won all the cups

Porteous - going to be best defender of the lot, future captain of Hibs and Scotland.

Boyle - Australian international speed merchant now one of our most important players

Allan - 3rd stint coming, previous 2 sensational. Oozes class.

Vela - Impressive CV, held in high regard from Bolton fans.

Slivka - full internationalist class footballer

Horgan - dynamic, improving, scored best goal seen at Tynie last season

Kamberi - others looking with a 2 million price tag. Proven player, big player on form

Fraser Murray coming through the ranks, Shaw with loads of potential

Not counting the new players still to get up to speed.

    ..... Rubbish

I thought too early to judge the new fella's. Only counted Vela as he is kind of proven at a good level

Did miss out the fans and players player of the year/top goalscorer Mallan though... oops

I think all Hibs fans *hope* they do well.

Stirling was a real shock to the system though and that one crap result has put us up against the 8 ball - we can't run and hide from that.

People will be much more reassured IF this team of Hecky's puts Arbroath to the sword tomorrow night.

Let's face it, motivation cannot surely be a problem for this one - a cup we have a chance of winning this season (on paper). But it's currently on a tightrope and Tuesday night is must win.

Like I say, I think all Hibs fans *hope* we do well here - but we're not on easy street by any means and the most important game (as ever) is the next one.

So what does your list have to do with the current transfer business? Apart from Allan (who signed a pre-contract in January) and Vela, all were here last season and none signed by Hecky. We haven't even see Vela yet. What we have seen have been less than impressive. None have had anyone saying they are quality signings. The problem is that so many of those you list are injured or still recovering from injury. We don't have a team that compares to last season at this point in time (see injuries) and Hecky says we are done. In that case, we are not in a good place.

No I am saying we have too many first team regulars injured, we have not replaced players of the quality of McNulty and Omeonga, we have an imbalanced midfield and they new guys appear to be less than we hoped for. The Hecky says we are done in the transfer market (if we believe him).

    Gray - Injured
    Stevenson - Injured
    Porto - Still recovering
Squirrel - Recovering but still not fit
    Slivka - Injured

That is practically half a team.

I hear you mate. FWIW it genuinely don't think we've finished our business. I'd expect another striker and midfielder in.

Re: Injuries, they're not long-term so we will have to suck it up. Very unfortunate but not much we can do.

Far to many writing off the new lads before they have even kicked a ball in anger really. Yes they have featured in some pre season games but give them a chance. Hardly been in the building a month and folk have them written off. They might be a massive success or let down but I will reserve judgement on that for a few months yet.

What I also thinks missing for some is who said all of these were signed to replace existing squad members? Maybe some were signed as good back up / on par with the likes of gray, the centre half’s etc? I get we all want quality players but we also need to be mindful of what that actually is at our level and budget. We lost the likes of Nelom, Mavrias, Johnson, Gauld, Allan, etc who all didn’t give us much in terms of a first team starters so I’d say the boys brought in are as a minimum to offer more than these which were signings of the previous recruitment where these lads seem to be PH signings.

Plenty time yet to bring in a couple of others and I’m sure we will.
