Have all our signings that have been made all guys at higher level clubs?
James is a younger player who can develop. Jackson is a back up and so is Maxwell. Newell and Doidge played in the Championship last season. I am not a fan of picking up players who are playing in lower leagues but in their prime however dont mind if they have potential to develop amd come from a lower league.

I am guessing he means that if we wanted to push the boat out further to match Aberdeen’s wages we’d have been able to do so but Hecky has chosen not too.

    Good read.
The likelihood of us needing an accomplished defensive midfielder in the side for the upcoming League Cup ties is slim so there is still time to bring in an alternative to Ojo.
In the meantime why not give young Ben Stirling a chance. He has all the physical attributes, has a good temperament and is a decent passer. Sometimes the solution to your problems is right there in front of you.

We'll he's made an agreement to join, on a pretense regarding his previous contract, hibs revived the deal, then he renaged on the previous deal for more money elsewhere. It doesn't point to a great deal of honesty or integrity.
Sadly this truth is lost on those who prefer to stamp their feet in anger as they post about how ***** we are for 'losing' a player to Aberdeen
    This is how it feels

    Impressive stuff from the gaffer.

We’ve missed out on a target but if the player has changed his mind then I guess so do we. He was obviously happy with our contract before Aberdeen gazunped us.

Still weeks to go until the English transfer window closes. The season is almost upon us but 6 weeks left to sign players.

Yep, i agree, but that say accounts for about 200k, their turnover is about 6 million more than ours. What are the other commercial deals that we should be securing? What deals do Aberdeen have in place that we should?

Is it not the case they have a group of businessmen handing over cash? I genuinely dont know.
Commercial deals I don’t know about, but they have been successful in securing outside investment something we haven’t taken advantage of. As well as the American based businessman they also had the coupe who put in roughly £15M to allow them to pay off their debts.

It’s not ideal when we keep getting beat to players by Aberdeen but he’s a 27 year old from S****horpe, not exactly in the Steve Archibald from Barca signing is it? I reckon we’re better off not throwing money at this guy, bring back Dylan, that would piss them off 😂
How many other players have they signed that the manager wanted this year?

See I look at that Aberdeen team and think for all the financial power they supposedly have it isn’t that great.

Plus the BBC article says we were happy with out pitch/offer which to me means we offered what we thought he was worth. Maybe we don't think he is good enough to be entering into a bidding war for.

Heckers may also be looking at the bigger picture here in terms of future negotiations. We’re rumoured to have come into a few quid recently, any players or agents thinking about trying to put a squeeze on us will know now we’ll not be pressed into paying too much for a player.

If we’d competed for a player financially with Aberdeen and won it could well have made future negotiations more difficult.

Possibly straw clutching at its very best but I’d rather try to remain positive at this stage of the season. Plenty time for negativity once the season starts properly.

Nobody is stamping their feet in anger. Some of us just see it differently. For me it was a chance to get one over on a rival and continue the momentum the club had built up over the summer, that's all.

People have been using words like tragic in relation to the Ojo deal and blaming the club for not spending more money to seal the deal. Is that not feet stamping? The boy and his agent were ripping the pish.

Dissapointed in losing out on a player to our main rivals for 3rd but I'll get over it. Sounds like a bad egg anyway to be honest.

The problem with the OJO deal is it’s been played out in the public domain. We will have probably lost out on better players so far this window, we just aren't aware of it. I get it’s worse he’s going to a rival but let’s not let it define our signing strategy and claims of it being a disaster etc, we have a limit, players have a value if we don’t think they are worth breaking that then we need to trust the club.

I get throw in the takeover and subsequent investment will have some expecting is to not be beat to a rival on players but in reality every club has their wage structure and I don’t see our structure changing too much so we can simply beat a rival to a signature so I’m comfortable with the situation. You open a can of worms, we break it for him, then mcnulty, then Omeonga and others want more and more, where does it stop.

We move on, good luck to the boy he has a family no doubt and at present Aberdeen are more appealing on recent history for outperforming Hibs and they have fairly exciting infrastructure plans so I can see the appeal.

Just seen Bournemouth have signed a player for a wedge of cash. We get more fans through the gate than them. Why are we not spending 20 million on players?

Not really it's just an opinion. The club aren't right all the time. Calling it tragic is a tad over the top I'd agree.

I’m glad the club haven’t gone back to match or better Aberdeen’s offer. The pair of them have shown that cash is king in their eyes. A mercenary we could do without.

    The worm will turn

Good time to be a Hibee

If they don’t want to play for us we don’t want them

Once they do sign we decide if they are HIBS class or not

Not gonna lose any sleep about it 😁

Why though? They guys a professional footballer with no sentiments to Scottish football or either team so it looks like he's signed for the team offering him the most money. Like so many players before have. Football is such a short career so I don't blame him.

And on paper lets be honest, which team will be tipped by most pundits and experts to finish higher up the league? Which team has European football this season? Which team will be paying him more money? Its annoying but that's the reality of it.

We seem to have been able to find a few rare players who have stated in their interviews that they've really bought into the Hecky sales pitch before signing and don't seem to be money orientated. Ojo obviously isn't one of these players. I'm not going to waste my time hating him over it though.

I don’t think it does, sadly. They have finished above us and qualified for Europe for the last however many years.

I think they are grim to watch but we rarely beat them.

Chuck in the additional money and it’s not that surprising.

Look this guy downed tools when he didn’t get his own way. We don’t need players like that.

Aberdeen are welcome to him as he will do the same again when he wants another move. It’s s transfer fee we don’t need to pay.

I’m sure he will get a warm welcome when he comes to Easter road.
The worry would be that we went in for him with £125k.
If he's not good enough then he shouldn't have been good enough for whatever less than Aberdeen we were offering.
