Refused to pay £30 to go to that. Terrible ticket price imo.

Certainly compared to the price of say The Spice Girls at £90!!!!
What would you have said was the correct price for the Skids?

My Mrs issuing to the Spice Girls and her tickets are nowhere near £90, I know because I bought them.
That gig at the Liquid Rooms was their most expensive on their tour!! Next Friday their gig in Leeds is only £22.50, same with Newcastle and Carlisle. Even the Aberdeen gig is only £26. So why do the Edinburgh punters get shafted?

So Edinburgh is £4 more than Aberdeen, maybe due to costs for venue hire I don't know. Suppose lots of things are more expensive in Edinburgh compared to other cities.
Of course it's up to you to set a level where you think it's good value. I didn't go but I expect a lot who did thought it was well worth £30 and didn't feel shafted.

£30 to go and watch proper live music is **** all. What does the Luquid Room hold, 500? So £12,500 after tax in revenue. Venue hire, equipment hire, travel costs, accommodation costs, PR & marketing costs, management & legal fees etc. Doesn’t leave very much for 5 or 6 band members. Gigging is how bands survive these days. They make next to nothing from music sales. It’s why the Skids & Big Country play so many gigs these days. A lot of their gigs are tiny and probably don’t turn much of a profit.
£30 for a good couple of hours entertainment is a pretty fair price IMHO. Comparable to football for example, where you’re far from guaranteed a good time!

Depends if they keep the top area open, it's where I usually go, next to the sound guy, something to lean against and a bar 20ft away.

Edit: Just checked, capacity is 800, less depending on production.

I went to see "a conversation with Nick Cave" last Saturday at the Usher Hall and I'm still unsure how I feel about it. It was a mixture of him playing solo on the piano, which was brilliant, and answering questions from the audience, and he was really funny and honest. My issue was with the some of the absolute attention seeking morons in the audience. 50% of the questions were worthwhile, the rest attention seeking bawbaggery.
it was an interesting format but could do with some refinementLast edited by Mr Grieves; 28-06-2019 at 11:08 PM.

I think with Nick Cave fans, you’ve got to accept that 50% of them will be self indulgent bawbags. I’m just sorry that trend stretched to home!

He's fantastic, genuinely got a natural rapport with folk, which I'm a wee bit surprised about. Nick Cave and the bad seeds at he hydro last year (or year before?) is genuinely the greatest gig I've been to, and I hate the hydro.Last edited by Mr Grieves; 28-06-2019 at 11:56 PM.

God is in the House is one of my favourite songs ever, largely for sentimental reasons, and to see him open with that was absolute tops.

Had 2 very different gigs in terms of size this month.
Stone Temple Pilots at Glasgow Academy were superb and Jeff Gutt does a great job on the vocals, stood only a few feet from the stage.
Rammstein in Berlin was a phenomenal show but was seated some distance from the stage in the huge Olympic stadium still a great spectacle.
Got Rammstein again next Saturday at Milton Keynes and Alter Bridge in December in Madrid & Glasgow.

Glasgow gig sold out in minutes. Still loads of tickets left for his Aberdeen gig, even standing tickets. Chancers are trying to sell Glasgow tickets on sites like Gumtree for £100+ per ticket.

Black Stone Cherry last night was just an amazing gig, they really have a connection with their Scottish fans. The support bands were really good too, Otis and The Kriss Barras Band.
