You find it a remarkable coincidence that a Scottish team which monitors the lower leagues in England identifies the same free scoring striker that is also of interest to a promising young English lower league manager?
I'm surprised that a poster of your experience doesn't realise that the default position of many hibs fans seems to be to either disparage the club or the people who work for it for not knowing their jobs

👍 think they can loan internally within the country but not outwith England.

Doesn't seem to be the case, 90+2

"No Premier League club will be able to buy or loan a player after Aug. 8 -- but they will be able to sign up players who are free agents.

The Championship has decided to match the Premier League's date of Aug. 8. Unlike last season, however, Championship clubs will not be able to continue to loan players after that date. Clubs in Leagues One and Two can continue to trade players freely up to Sept. 2."

Jesus, some mad takes on that forum.

Hibs would be a sidewards step from Forest Green was a cracker and for any Forest Green fans looking in, Scottish Football is many things but it is certainly not ‘soulless’.

I thought it was a cracking read to be fair. They're so far away in their own little world of soccer AM banter and the general sky sports brainwashing. It's even led one of them to think playing for Hibs in Edinburgh is a sideways step.

I enjoyed the Aberdeen have loads of money compared to the gunts one as well. Leveins eye for an utter donkey is even known all those miles away it seems. Great read.

Mcnulty is defo not coming back on a permanent deal as Reading have told both Mcnulty and Hibs they want to recoup the 1m they paid for him.

I believe there are a few League 1 clubs interested including his old side Pompy.

Last minute loan is the best we can hope for but it wouldn't surprise me if Hecky has already sorted his team out by then
I doubt we’ll get him on a permanent deal either but Reading will recognise they won’t get anywhere near £1m back for him.

It shouldn’t be forgotten that Hibs were reportedly very close to agreeing a permanent deal back in January. So I doubt the clubs valuations were a million miles apart. Having said that I’d expect that there will a League 1 team more likely to spend £400k - £500k than we are. Surely that will be enough for someone looking to get him permanently.

Liked that Forest Green thread. A couple of posts apart, it was measured and surprisingly well-informed on the Scottish game. Imagine if we could say the same about this place! :-)

Someone said that it’s grim going to the north of England but living in Scotland is a whole other level of grim.. coming from fans of a team from somewhere the majority of folk have never heard of - Nailsworth.. wtf is that?!

Celtic angling for a cheap deal based on a unknown injury with so much up front then never play him after 20 games 🙄

Peterborough united owner is saying a top 4 SPFL club in for Mark OHara on twitter...

Either his knowledge of Scottish football is limited or we are not in for him...

He also said the offer was rubbish

If he's not talking out his council gritter then my Guess would be Killie, it won't be the uglies and couldn't see it being Aberdeen

I can't remember the last time we signed this many at this stage in pre season.

    All very positive.

Only positive if they turn out to be successful. Signing players from League 2 doesn’t fill me with much confidence

Paul Coutts ex Sheffield United is the midfielder Aberdeen are looking at, he is currently in Aberdeen with them training.
Although he has had offers back in England.

Does it really matter what league he came from, Andy Robertson was playing for queens park not so long ago, now considered to be one of if not the best LB in europe

I’m sure many feel the same way. It’s only an opinion after all. Just because signings are completed early doesn’t mean “great business” IMO

If say Aberdeen/Hearts were signing a full back from the 5th tier of English football I doubt people would be saying terrific signing

Dear o dear. I really do wonder sometimes. Who should we sign??

Would you rather we signed the likes of Craig Wighton who cost in the region of Doidge and who has scored 80 goals less in his career.

Yet clearly we are getting in players that the manager and the club has targeted, surely a positive sign, no?

They have more chance of being successful being signed now so they can get a good pre-season and maximum fitness before we kick off the league season.

It's very unlike Hibs. We're usually getting folk in during July through to September then trying to get them up to fitness.

I think it says a lot for the players too that they are committed enough to sign early.

I'd be concerned if they were being signed from a pub league. League 2 in England is not a pub league, plenty of players have come from there and done well.

Worth noting that the players we have signed from league 2 have been tracked by championship clubs, in fact one of them played for one, albeit a bad one

It’s more realistic I’d say from previous experience. Big improvements needed as 3 wins in 20 against the top six last season isn’t good enough
