Jon McCracken linked, Young Scottish goal keeper.

Previously with Hamilton, seems we would have competition though as Newcastle also interested.
I know his dad Phil quite well

I reckon we'll see a signing in the next couple days. No inside info, just seems to be the momentum.

Wasn't John McGinn part of a relegated team? Just because his team mates are pish doesn't mean that he might not be a relevation with good players around him.
I was waiting for that one. I specifically said he was relegated with the bottom team in the English leagues. SJM was relegated with a premier League Team. I wouldn't have the same reservations with a relegated EPL Team full back, as they would be Championship Standard, I do with a League 2 relegated team. That makes him Non-League now. It's not the relegation, it is the League they are relegated from.

I get your point, sometimes players just need to drop a couple of levels to rediscover their confidence or get that run of games. James is still young and seems to have went to Yeovil to get game time which he has done, during that time he’s had a lot of interest in him from championship teams, Celtic and won player of the season.

That gives me hope, if he was 28 and a run of the mill midfielder for them I wouldn’t be too excited.

Hopefully he can make the step up.

NL saying Celtic is a great stepping stone for Turnbull.

Wonder how the plastics will like their manager describing the club in that way?

Well he used them as a stepping stone to get the Bolton job so shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to them.

Celtc are a stepping stone to Southampton for whom they are a feeder club.

Deals like the Turnbull one are important to celtc because they get to collect the bigger fee from the eventual step up. Pity the richer club didn't just cut them out the deal like Villa did with SJM.

“There’ll be some more. I’m not going to say how many or what positions because people will hold me to it!
We’re really clear on who we want, what positions and what type of character.
As it stands, we’re getting our first choices in which is great. But with that, you’ve got to be really patient, you’ve got to push and there may come a point with any of those where we can’t get any of those and move on - that’s just the way it is.
We want to keep pushing and pushing to get the best possible quality.”

    Sounds positive Fromm Heckingbottom.

The sensible ones will get it, the ones that don't probably think they are in with a shout of winning the CL next year......

I'd be more concerned he was part of the defence from a team that dropped out the bottom division down South..... doesn't fill me with optimism. However I know nowt about him and happy to reserve judgement until he signs and shows us what he can do. We don't have a good record of signing good (better than we have) full backs in recent years.
well to be fair to the scouts, it is hard to replace the best ; right back in the world and left back in Scotland. .

EEN now reporting Tom James could be our 4th summer signing.

Great to see we are getting our deals done early, so the players can have a good pre-season together, and as Heckingbottom said we are managing to get our 1st choice targets in compared to last season

Looks like Stevie Mallan is gonna have some competition for free-kicks if this is what this potential new lad is capable of.

Always encouraging to see a defender with this kind of technique in their locker.

There are a lot of people called Tom James on Facebook

FIFA rating will be anything up to 100

It’s clear that Adam Jackson and Joe Newell have been key Hecky targets. Both signed early and the club had clearly been courting them.

Certainly worth highlighting when the numpties in our support inevitably say that, the board isn’t backing the manager etc.

What “numpties” are suggesting that? Start a fight in an empty room springs to mind.

I’m not looking for a fight, I just heard and read it a lot during the Lennon fallout. Even though the board clearly backed him with signings. Also it's Heckys first transfer window hence the use of inevitably.

We haven't been saying that this season because the evidence suggests the manager is being backed.
